EICMA 2015: Three new Benelli motorcycles revealed

Benelli has revealed three brand new motorcycles at EICMA 2015. All three motorcycles fall into different categories, but each model displaces under 500cc with the range including an adventure motorcycle, a scrambler and a faired sportsbike.

Tornado 302

The Benelli Tornado 302 is an entry-level faired sportsbike that is powered by an in-line, twin cylinder 300cc, liquid cooled engine that produces 34.8 BHP @ 12,000 rpm and 27 Nm of torque 9,000 rpm, with the power being channelled to the rear wheel through a 6-speed manual gearbox.

The sportsbike uses a steel tube frame that is visible on the outside, gets side mounted twin-port exhaust pipes on the right side, upside-down (USD) front forks, a rear monoshock absorber, with the stopping power coming from dual disc brakes (Front: 260 mm / Rear: 240 mm) with ABS offered as well.

The bike features a sharply sculpted fuel tank with what some may consider one too many character lines, split seats and a rather bulbous front end with a large headlamp cluster that looks like it has drawn inspiration from the Kawasaki ZX-14R.

Leoncino

With Scramblers gaining popularity with younger buyers, Benelli has revealed its own in the form of the Leoncino. The model is powered by a 499.6cc, liquid-cooled, parallel twin-cylinder engine that makes 46.9 BHP @ 8,500 rpm and 45 Nm of torque @ 4,500 rpm. Transmission is through a chain drive with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Built on a trellis frame, the Leoncino uses USD front forks and a rear monoshock absorber adjustable for pre-load. Dual 320 mm disc brakes with 4-piston calipers provide stopping power at the front, with the rear wheel kept in check by a 260 mm single disc brake with ABS standard.

Design features include an LED headlamp, endure tyres, spoke wheels, a twin port exhaust, a contoured single seat, and a tyre hugger.

TRK 502

On first impressions, the TRK 502 looks like a derivation of Ducati's Multistrada. The TRK 502 is an adventure motorcycle which uses a 499.6cc, liquid-cooled, parallel twin-cylinder engine that makes 46.9 BHP @ 8,500 rpm and 45 Nm of torque @ 4,500 rpm.

The model uses a steel tube frame with suspension duties being carried out by a USD forks up front with a pre-load adjustable rear monoshock and a healthy 230 mm ground clearance. Braking is from dual 320 mm front discs and a 260 mm single disc at the rear.
