Thanks to Vivek Dhiman for sending this image in. Heartfelt gratitude for sharing it with other enthusiasts via this Team-BHP page

The upcoming Ford Figo facelift has been spotted completely undisguised in India. However, the test car is sporting a Ka+ badge which suggests that this may not be an India-spec version. The Ford Figo hatchback is sold as the Ka+ in global markets and hence we can expect to get similar updates on the Figo facelift here in India.

The Ka+ facelift was globally unveiled in February 2018. The updated model receives a new front bumper with a revised air dam and C-shaped chrome fog lamp surrounds. The front grille has a chrome frame and mesh, while the headlamps feature chrome inserts. In the rear, the Figo / Ka+ facelift gets a new bumper and tail lights, while on the interior, the car gets a redesigned dashboard with a touchscreen infotainment system in the centre. The recently unveiled Ford Freestyle has a similar dashboard. The Aspire sedan is also likely to get similar updates.

In India, the Figo facelift is expected to be offered with Ford's new 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder Dragon Series petrol engine. The engine also does the duty on the Freestyle and is based on the 1.5-litre Dragon Series engine which debuted on the new EcoSport. This engine produces 95 BHP and 120 Nm of peak torque. Meanwhile, the 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine with 99 BHP / 215 Nm will be retained.

New Ford Figo hatchback interiors snapped ahead of launch

Thank you to Sandeep Sidhu for sending in this image. Heartfelt gratitude for sharing it with other enthusiasts!

Ford will launch the new Figo hatchback in India on September 23, 2015. With just days to go for the launch, more spy images of the car have surfaced.

The spy images show the interiors of the car. The design of the interior is identical to that of the Figo Aspire compact sedan that was launched in August. However, the colour scheme is different. The dashboard, steering wheel, door panels and centre console are all black instead of beige and black. The seats of the car are black as well and the pillars are grey.

Instead of piano black, there are silver inserts around the infotainment system and central air-conditioner vents, around the gear lever, on the doors and on the steering wheel. The air-conditioner vents at the extreme ends of the dashboard have chrome bezels. The instrument cluster and switchgear have been carried over from the Aspire and the car is equipped with dual front airbags.

The new Figo hatchback replaces the old Figo in India.

Ford India testing left hand drive version of new Figo

Ford has been testing the next-gen Figo hatchback in India for a while now. New spy shots show a left hand drive version of the car, indicating that cars for export markets could be rolled out of the company's Sanand plant, which is scheduled to be inaugurated later this month.

Based on the Ka hatchback which Ford sells in Brazil, the Figo uses the company's new design language with an Aston Martin-like, hexagonal front grille and swept back headlamps. Brazil also gets the full-sized Ka+ sedan, which is not expected to be sold in India. Instead, we will get a sub-4 metre version of the car, which is likely to be called the Figo Aspire.

The Figo hatchback and compact sedan are likely to be powered by new 4-cylinder 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines. A naturally aspirated version of the 3-cylinder, 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine could also be used.

The Ford Figo hatchback and compact sedan are expected to replace the current Figo hatchback and Classic sedan respectively.

Rumour: Ford Figo sedan to be called 'Figo Aspire'

The exteriors and interiors of the Figo twins have been spotted a multiple times in the past. Now, a media report suggests that Ford has registered 'Aspire' and 'Figo Aspire' brand names for their upcoming cars.

Motor Octane suggests the Figo sedan is likely to be named as 'Figo Aspire'. However, the hatchback might be named as the 'Figo', as it was this name that established a presence of Ford in the hatchback space in India.

Clearly, marketing terms like Dzire and Aspire are aimed to hit the right strings of the target customers of these cars, who want to upgrade from hatchbacks to sedans for added practicality as well as bragging rights.

Both these cars are likely to be powered by the same petrol and diesel engines i.e. 1.2 liter and 1.5 liter respectively. The report also suggests that the diesel will produce 75 BHP and 195 Nm of torque and is likely to be the most fuel efficient motor in India, with ARAI figures of 27 km/l. Rumors are that a naturally aspirated 3-cylinder, 1.0 liter EcoBoost petrol engine could also be used.
