New images of the Tata Punch EV have surfaced online. While the test car is still under heavy camouflage, there is one interesting detail that has caught everyone's attention.
The latest spy images reveal a front-mounted charging port, located just under the front grille. Until now, Tata EVs have had their charging ports integrated under the existing fuel filler cap.
The Punch EV looks similar to the ICE version. It carries forward the rugged styling with squared-off wheel arches and C-pillar-mounted rear door handles. It is expected to get a blanked-off grille, just like on the Nexon EV and new design alloy wheels.
The Punch EV is also expected to get an updated interior, featuring a 2-spoke steering wheel, a digital instrument cluster and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. However, this particular test car has an older interior.
The Punch EV could get multiple battery options offering a range of around 200-300 km on a single charge.

Tata Motors is expanding its electric car portfolio with the upcoming Punch EV. A prototype of the electric sub-4 meter SUV was recently spotted out on the street, revealing some interesting details.
The Punch EV looks similar to the ICE version. The chunky styling is evident despite the camouflage. The car has squared-off wheel arches and the rear door handles are positioned on the C-pillars. It is expected to get a blanked-off grille, just like on the Nexon EV and new design alloy wheels.
Interestingly, the Punch EV will get an updated interior. As you can see, the test car is equipped with a 2-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel. It could also get a digital instrument cluster, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 360-degree camera and disc brakes on all four corners.
Reports suggest that Tata Motors could offer the Punch EV with two battery options with a maximum range of over 300 km. The car is likely to be priced below the Nexon EV and will compete with the Citroen eC3 in the Indian market.

The Tata Punch EV has been captured on camera for the first time. The camouflaged prototype was spotted on a flatbed near Lonavala recently.
At first glance, it might look like a regular Tata Punch. However, upon close inspection, you will realize that the car hasn't got an exhaust at the back. Also note that the test mule is equipped with rear disc brakes, which aren't available on the ICE version.
The exterior design of the Punch EV looks identical, with little to no changes on the outside. However, we can expect the EV to get a slightly tweaked front fascia and blue accents to differentiate it from the regular Punch.
While technical details of the all-electric Punch are not available, we can expect the car to be based on Tata's Ziptron architecture offering around 300 km of range. When launched, it will compete with the Citroen eC3 in the Indian market.

The Punch EV will be the fourth all-electric model in Tata Motors’ line-up. It is expected to be positioned between the Tigor EV and the Nexon EV.
The Tata Punch is based on the ALFA platform, which it shares with the Altroz hatchback. The all-electric version will use a modified version of the same architecture and will be powered by the brand’s Ziptron powertrain. It could be offered with multiple battery options.
As far as styling is concerned, the Punch EV is expected to get EV-specific exterior trim and colour options. Inside, it could get features like a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, semi-digital instrument cluster and regenerative braking.
