Hero Mavrick 440 Scrambler name trademarked in India

The Hero Mavrick 440 Scrambler will share its underpinnings with the Harley-Davidson X440.

Hero MotoCorp has filed a trademark for the Mavrick 440 Scrambler nametag, hinting at the next model based on the Mavrick 440.

According to the government’s patents and trademarks website, Hero MotoCorp filed the trademark in March 2024. Its current status shows “Marked for Exam”, which means it is yet to be approved.

The Hero Mavrick 440 Scrambler will share its underpinnings with the Harley-Davidson X440. Unlike the standard model, which is a roadster, the Scrambler will feature a more off-road biased design. It could get a wide handlebar, raised suspension with a bigger front wheel and dual-purpose tyres

The Scrambler version is likely to use the same 440cc single-cylinder engine as the standard Mavrick 440. This engine produces 27 BHP and 36 Nm and is paired with a 6-speed gearbox via an assist and slipper clutch.

Ford Territory name trademarked in India

The Ford Territory is a midsize SUV that could rival the Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV700 and the MG Hector,

There has been a lot of buzz surrounding Ford lately. There have been reports of the ‘Blue Oval’ making a return to the Indian market with the Everest SUV, and now, the carmaker has filed another trademark.

According to the government’s patents and trademarks website, Ford has filed a trademark application for the ‘Territory’ nametag. Earlier, the carmaker had also filed a design patent for the same SUV.

The Ford Territory is a midsize SUV that is currently sold in the global market, where it is offered with a 1.8-litre turbo-petrol engine. This unit puts out 189 BHP and 320 Nm and is mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission.

If launched in India, the Ford Territory could compete with models like the Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV700 and the MG Hector.

MG Excelor EV name trademarked in India

MG Motor India is set to announce its future plans on March 20.

MG Motor India could be planning a third EV for India. The carmaker has recently filed a trademark for the ‘Excelor EV’ nametag, which could be used on an upcoming electric car.

MG plans to launch two models this year, one of which will be an EV, while the other is said to be the facelift Gloster. Details of the Excelor EV, though, are still unknown.

MG showcased several models from its global line-up at the 2023 Auto Expo. The carmaker had presented the eMG6 hybrid sedan, eHS SUV, eRX5 SUV, and the Marvel R. One of these could be rebranded as the Excelor EV in India.

Meanwhile, MG Motor India is set to announce its future plans on March 20. Perhaps we will learn more about the Excelor EV as well.

Mahindra trademarks XUV 3XO, XUV 5XO and XUV 7XO names

The XUV 1XO could be used for the electric derivative of the KUV100.

Mahindra has filed several new trademarks for its upcoming electric vehicles. As per a government website, the carmaker has filed applications for the XUV 1XO, XUV 3XO, XUV 5XO and XUV 7XO nametags.

The names could be used for Mahindra’s upcoming electric SUVs, which include its Born Electric range. Based on the INGLO platform, the pure electric version of the XUV700 has been dubbed XUV.e8. However, it seems Mahindra might use a different nomenclature for the production version.

Names like XUV 1XO and XUV 3XO are likely to be used on its entry-level electric offerings. The 1XO could be used for the electric derivative of the KUV100.

Yulu sues Kinetic Green over trademark infringement

Yulu filed the lawsuit in January after Kinetic Green launched its new Zulu range of electric scooters.

Yulu Bikes has filed a case against Kinetic Green, accusing the latter of infringing its trademark. The lawsuit has been filed at a city civil and sessions court in Bangalore.

According to media reports, Yulu filed the lawsuit in January after Kinetic Green launched its new Zulu range of electric scooters. The company believes that it sounds too similar to its own brand and may cause confusion among customers.

Meanwhile, the Karnataka High Court reportedly ordered a temporary injunction on February 5, 2024. The court has restrained Kinetic Green Energy from using, selling and advertising with ‘YULU’ and associated trademarks or similar words, including ‘ZULU’ and ‘Kinetic Green Zulu’.

In response, Kinetic Green’s lawyers have requested the High Court to advance the date and allow them to file their objections sooner. The final decision on the interim application is expected to be made by the Commercial Court by March 11, 2024.

Mahindra trademarks 'Scorpio X' nametag in India

Mahindra has filed a new trademark for the ‘Scorpio X’ nametag in India. It could be the name given to the production version of the Global Pik Up concept that was showcased in South Africa last year.

The Scorpio X is likely to be a dual-cab pickup truck based on a next-generation ladder frame platform. Like the concept, the production version could get a bold front fascia derived from the Scorpio N, a more aggressive bumper and LED headlights. It could feature a rugged design with ample ground clearance.

The Scorpio X could share its interior with the Scorpio N. It could get some advanced features like Level 2 ADAS, semi-automatic parking and 5G connectivity.

The Scorpio X is expected to be powered by Mahindra's Gen-2 mHawk diesel engine. It could be paired with either a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission and a 4-wheel drive system.

Ford Mustang Mach-E trademark filed in India

The Mach-E is also available with a dual-motor setup. The AWD version comes with a 91 kWh battery pack and a range of 548 km, while the top-spec GT AWD variant can cover 489 km on a single charge.

The BYD Dolphin is a 4-door electric hatchback that measures more than 4.2 meters in length. The car comes with a 60.4 kWh battery pack offering a maximum range of 427 km. It powers an electric motor that produces 201 BHP and 290 Nm.

The Dolphin can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 7 seconds and has a top speed of 160 km/h. The car is also available with a smaller 44.9 kWh unit that has a range of 340 km (WLTP cycle).

According to BYD, the battery can be charged from 30-80% in 29 minutes using a 100 kW DC charger. The car also has VtoL or ‘Vehicle to Load’ capability.

Royal Enfield Goan Classic 350 name trademarked

Royal Enfield has filed a trademark application for the ‘Goan Classic 350’ nametag.

The Goan Classic 350 name could be used for its upcoming Classic 350 Bobber. Test mules of the bike have already been spotted testing.

The 350cc Bobber is expected to be based on the J-platform. Spy images have revealed a classic bobber design offering a relaxed riding position and wire-spoke wheels shod with white wall tyres.

It could be powered by the familiar 349cc single-cylinder engine as the Classic 350. This engine develops 20 BHP and 27 Nm and is paired with a 5-speed gearbox.

The test bike was equipped with a conventional suspension setup with a telescopic fork at the front and dual shock absorbers at the rear. The bike also had disc brakes at both ends and is likely to get dual-channel ABS.
