There are plenty of happy i10 owners on this forum. The issue you've mentioned is probably an isolated one!

That was a case of battery getting drained. Happened to me several times when my driver left the lights of the car on in the morning, by evening battery was drained and had to connect other battery to start the car.

No issue with the car in this case and mine .

Dealer is not ready to offer any further cash discount So we did not book Spark.

I was ready to spend an additional 50K for alloys+new shoes+ 2 tone seat covers. that means total close to 4.4L.

I am waiting for Grande Punto now. If they price it right I will try to stretch my budget a bit and book Punto.

The dealer might come down towards the end of the month. I will probably start negotiating for a Spark around the same time. Will post my results!

I have been offered Rs 54000 discount (incl 4000 corporate disc) and 3 year free maintenance by Sundaram Motors. That brings the OTR price of the white Spark LS variant to 3.41 L and the PS variant to 3.19 L. They did not offer any freebies but I feel may do so if pressed. My mind says go for it, but the heart is not convinced for some reason!

In contrast, I have been offered the Santro GL @ 3.74L OTR, with the following freebies:
Free Insurance, Sony MP3 system + 4 Speakers, remote locking, seat covers, steering cover, perfume, car cover, floor & boot mats, mud flaps and number plates. Total worth Rs 30,000 approx. (Dealer : DSC Hyundai).

Which will be better? I have test driven both and feel more inclined towards the Santro.

Apart from these two, the other car I really like is the Alto LXi which is Rs 3.00 L OTR (incl Rs 12500 discount) with 3 year warranty. ( Dealer : ABT Maruti).

If budget is your main concern go for 'Alto'

Otherwise 'Spark'. Somehow I do not like 'Santro'

All three are within budget, I mentioned Alto as it feels fun to drive. Reminds me of the Sipani Dolphin I had years ago!

Re: the spark, what freebies can I reasonably demand?

Check the LT variant accessories and select few from it (which are not in LS) and ask them to fit it in LS.

Also you can ask for sunfilm and Autocop

To GM at this time, you are the KING!!!

With Spark you Chevy's promise of 3 year cashless maintenance!

Push for all of these: Free insurance (10k), MP3 w/ 2 speakers (8k), remote locking (3k), seat covers + steering cover (2k), perfume, car cover, floor & boot mats, mud flaps and number plates (~2K)

You should be able to negotiate more on the Spark. I would only buy a spark if the price difference between a similarly loaded Santro and Spark is at least Rs. 30,000 - Rs. 40,000.

I contacted them again and now they have offered the following apart from the Rs 54000 discount:
Mod Flaps, Rubber Footmat, Bootmat, Kenwood Stereo system (two speakers).

They say if I have another car in my name they can give a further Rs 10,000 discount, but unfortunately I have only a bike!

Can anyone clarify whether the SEFI, 4 cylinder engine of the Spark more advanced/retrograde as compared to Wagon R/Estilo engines? It has only 2 valves per cylinder as compared to 4 valves in the Maruti engines. I don't want to spend my money on older technology.

You can also save approximately Rs. 4,000 - Rs. 5,000 by buying the insurance on your own. The dealer has probably quoted Rs. 12,000 but it can be had for Rs. 7,000 - Rs. 8,000 if you do it on your own.

A new model of the Spark is replacing the existing one from next week. The only difference is beige interiors. Discounts will go down by approximately Rs. 5,000 and price will increase by approximately Rs. 2,000 so a net increase of Rs. 7,000.

All in all I think the following discounts should be possible on the current model:

GM offer - Rs. 50,000
Corporate - Rs. 4,000
Exchange - Rs. 10,000 (If applicable)
Dealer - Rs. 5,000 (Will vary by dealer but I think Rs. 5,000 - 8,000 is possible)
Insurance - Rs. 4,000 (Buy insurance on your own or negotiate with dealer)

Total discount - Rs. 73,000

Free accessories: Stereo system with 2 speakers, autocop, mats, etc.
