Auto Bild

what about Auto Bild?
I have read it for 2 months.. but I did not find it that interesting and it is supposed to be world's largest selling auto magazine.

Autobild is absolute rubbish! One of their most recent magazines had a shootout between the E & the A6. Fair enough. Problem was, it was a German test and with engine options that aren't available in India! Vikrant Singh's comments are the only saving grace of an otherwise worthless mag.

Switch to this link for more info on autobild.

I have voted for AutoCar India.
I am following this magazine since long.
Horomazad Sorabjee ( sorry for the wrong spelling ) was with Auto India. The June-July 6th anniversary issue of Auto India came with the scoop of Tata Indigo. Then I think Mr. Sorabjee left Auto India and in September 1999 exactly one year after Overderive came, came out Autocar India with cover page picture of Ford Ikon.

This magazine was very different from the earlier I used to read. I really loved Auto India, but also tried Car and Bike once. Then switched to Overdrive and finally to ACI. Kept on reading OD and ACI for a long time. Now its only ACI.

A few positive points about ACI.
1) Their test are quite neutral.
2) Test data contains most of the things, but I believe that the orientation/presentation of the test data is what really makes the things good.
3) Pictures are less now,but they manage to cover almost everything.
4) Small technical explanations ( if a car has sufficient of them ) about cars is good and though small, these articles tell a lot.
5) Earlier coverage of car technology was quite good.
6) The best Buyer's guide of any automobile magazine.

Negatives :
1) Too many ads.
2) The pictures are getting less.
3) Less special technical coverage they had earlier.
4) Cost is now Rs. 80 for a month. For the same money I can have two autobild issues ( Its a different thing that Autobild is almost useless ).

Autocar India, a very nice magazine ! But Overdrive is also not inferior in any sense of the word ! They have given comments on Bikes (unlike ACI)in the two wheeler section

Top Gear India is a vibrant and colourful mag, but contains VERY little about the Indian car scene and instead has a bunch of lifts from it's UK publication

The picture quality in Autocar is way better than in overdrive.
And the Autocar is very well written and elaborative but I also like the members of Overdrive and its OD garage a lot.

Among the three AutocarIndia is the best, but, I feel that the content in TopGear is excellent and even better than AutocarIndia and makes for an excellent read. One negative of Autocar India is that there are too many ads, but, technically its very good and has lots of info. The test drives can be relied upon and the same cannot be said of Overdrive. As for BS Motoring it is nice, but, not worth the money paid.

Irrespective of the subject, I would like to vote for Team BHP
If I had gone through team bhp before buying my scorpio, I would have gone for a 4 wheel drive irrespective of the wait. I didnt know Scorpio had 4WD versions
Both these mags are so so. Reason is I see all vehicles get good ratings irrespective of their faults. They try to be loyal to their advertisers.

Thats one reason I like Team BHP. No partiality

best regards
Bala

I love Autocar...I like the content as well as the ads (few car modification stuffs). After all, ACI helped me join Team-Bhp. Both Team-Bhp and ACI rocks!

I use to be a Overdrive subscriber till Adil use to be its Editor I think Hormzad use to be editor for Car & Bike at that time. In those days Overdrive had better quality paper/pictures etc. Adil then moved on to Car which is a good magazine but thenonly Car what about Bikes and also a bit pricey. At that time I started reading Autocar and have been a fan since.

Any day Auto car , I used to subscribe both auto car and overdrive till i started realising some really bad referrals they give about car and details (personal experience ) i decided to to stop spending on overdrive . Also i personally feel auto car gives more precise info.
