Akshay's right on that allergy thingy, both my esteem and baleno has got Hella red grills, One in the Baleno was installed around 6 months back and as u r aware that putting additional horns in a Baleno means a god forsaken task, it was installed right behind the front bumper but till date its working well. U know the issue might be because of the number of spurious Hella's in the market

But they are very allergic to water please take care of them in rains and while washing vehicles.
the good point is they are repairable but on the other hand they go bad often

I got Roots Windtone from Auto Grid for Rs.650/-, does it sound like a reasonable price ? Installation included in it, it was just removing the stock horn and fitting the new one without relay. Its dual horn and sounds same as skoda but louder.

Sound fair to me.Bosch one costs 500Rs. Did they use a new relay too?

Shaju, It's on the expensive side. The best roots windtone horn which is the windtone 90 costs Rs.550 from Roots dealer on JC road. The other windtone super costs Rs.425. Usually installation can be done at the A.S.S and they don't charge. The windtone 90 definitely needs a relay as it's a 5A horn. The others are 4A horns including bosch.

I have just purchased a new bosch symphony windtone horn as my roots was sounding like it had a cold. Let me see how this is now.

Also in case of WagonR, the OE horn is a single unit so you need to add a relay and the output relay terminal should have 2 pairs of wires going to the dual horns.

No relay used.

I specifically asked for relay, but the installer and the shop owner insisted without it, claiming they have fitted over a dozen wagonRs without relay. Now I am confused after reading your comment. Yes, the stock horn is a single unit and new windtone is a dual horn. How to check which model of windtone it is ? The cover has a plain title "Roots Windtone", no other words anywhere else.

Greenhorn
Do check out if they are the Red Grills? Even then they are asking way to much for those.I got them fitted in my M800 back in 2003 and the total cost involved was around Rs 800,but when I got a new pair for my new car this year,it cost me Rs 1600! But ankitahuja from Delhi pointed out that I was taken for a ride. AFAIR,his family is involved in dealing with automobile parts for many years. Please do pm him for exact price quote. But then again do remember that original Hella Red Grills are not that easily available these days, and cheap imitations are frequently available in most markets.

@shajufx- Do go for a relay,it would make life lots simpler in the long run.

If you want a loud horn you should try this.

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/modifi...tml#post823754

Train Horns & Train Horn Kits By HornBlasters, The Name In Locomotive Horn Kits For Your Car Or Truck!

I am sure this is not legal in India but if you want to blow off pillio riders you would need this. Even a deaf guy would be blown of by wind presure alone from this monster.

now i have heard about roots and bosch. i dont want it to be too loud, like windtone 90 as its 5A.
can someone suggest me a good "european" horn from roots or bosch with model number?

I recently saw some Stebel pressure horns (separate pipes and pressure cylinder)which were available in 2/3/4/6 pipe models. Has anyone used them before? Just looking for performance feedback.

I just mentioned that in my post that you can go for the Bosch symphony horn or the roots windtone super. Both are 4A horns. Bosch has only one model in widntone, the symphony.

Those are air horns and are illegal.

Stebel Horns

Guru's

Few months back, I got installed the Stebel BP3 Horn in my swift car. I used the same components (Relay) which was given along with it. It seems that the installer has done some goof up during the installation.

They have just given on me, this happened when I gave it for servicing and after that day, it worked for some time and after that they stopped working. I am just wondering if it is only the relay which has given up or it is the entire system which has gone bad. He didn't place any fuse in between. I have to check if the blower is working fine.

Please suggest me some good wind tone horns, since I am planning to go on a trip to rural Andhra where you will require this kind of horn very badly. Where can I find them in Hyderabad.

I love the signature tone of Volvo horns, can I get them anywhere by any chance.

Waiting for your chance.

Regards, Raju
