I absolutely agree with you that the mill looks to be a 200cc atleast. Also a little birdie from Bajaj Auto put it in my ears that it is indeed a 200. Im not putting my money on the veracity of the claim though it comes from a source placed quite well in the company. Well, untill the launch my fingers are crossed anyways.

I like the way the bike looks. It has the typical KTM DNA along with a hint of the new bajaj design language as seen in the latest baby Pulsar. I hope the fit and finish of the bike is a notch above the Pulsars. Oh and will someone make sure that the KTMs and the Ninjas have a separate service channel with dedicated and trained mechanics? I already find it hard enough to find qualified staff for my 220 Fi.

Motoroids have done it again... they have uploaded a report on the latest sightings of the KTM200 (minus he badging). Here is the report:

Spied Again! Bajaj KTM Duke 200 near Lonavala

Must say that I am falling in love with the bike every time I see it.

Ah!! the news get better.

Somehow I think the 125cc and the assumed pricing will not go well with the buying public.

A bigger mill will make it that much more desirable.

re: Scoop: KTM Duke 200 caught testing in India!

I recently had a word with my contact in Bajaj Auto. He has ridden the upcoming Duke 200 and says that it is unlike any 200 he has ridden before. According to him the bike is a complete maniac beast. Its full of teeth and will spit u out if you arnt careful. Pricing will indeed be premium considering the tech on board.
If its as nasty as he says, it should easily put a smile on my face !

KTM Dukes in India

Not sure if there is already a post for this, I couldn't find any though. KTM Dukes are supposed to be launched in India soon?

KTM Duke 200, Review, Price, KTM Bikes India, Comparison, Images, Variants

What do you guys think about it? I find the models quite different and attractive. So is the pricing (attractive).

Mods: Please merge this with any thread that is already existing.

Reason to post: I am planning (still planning) to go for a bike in the 200-300 cc range.

re: Scoop: KTM Duke 200 caught testing in India!

Yesterday I went to Bajaj probiking showroom here in Bangalore to inquire about Ninja 250R, porbiking showroom salesman asked me if I would be interested in KTM Duke 200cc and told me that bike would be launched in another 2 months time and priced between 1.25 to 1.4 lacks. I asked him to give me a call as soon as he gets to know more about the bike, so looks like KTM's launch is around the corner.

That's what i think too. On my visit the probiking guy was least interested to answer me. Moreover he said only 125's r being released. For my age its too sporty a bike. Hope the 200cc one better suits me. Price is kinda attractive though.

Shubz, guess there is nothing like age, all that matters is your willingness and being a game
But yep the Duke should be one crazy machine to ride as per the initial feedback that was updated to me by one of a birdie in Bajaj

I have been waiting for the duke. Heard that the launch is going to be at the Auto Expo 2012. 1.25L to 1.4L, would that be the ex-showroom price or the on-road price?

re: Scoop: KTM Duke 200 caught testing in India!

Bajaj-KTM are all set to introduce the new Duke 200 @ the Auto Expo this coming January.

Scoop: KTM Duke 200 caught testing in India!-1320990582a4192.jpg

Here are some note-worthy points:

- The Duke is powered by a liquid-cooled, 4-valve, single-pot, 200cc mill that churns out a very healthy 25 horses. That's the same as the CBR250R. But..

- The Duke weighs a mere 125 kgs! That is a whole 40-odd kilos lesser than the CBR250R. This translates to a power-to-weight figure of a staggering 200/tonne!

- Comes loaded with kit like: 43 mm USD forks, a trellis frame, rear monoshock, underslung exhaust and fat tyres. This should make it very nimble and probably, easier to ride too.

- The price-tag is what's more mouth-watering than these figures. An estimated 1.3-1.5 lakhs is not bad at all. Considering that the under-powered R15 and the CBR250R are priced in the same bracket.

re: Scoop: KTM Duke 200 caught testing in India!

Did a compare between 125 & 200, and apart from the explainable differences, found the following two and wonder if this is a cost-cutting measure or a design requirement.

1. 125/200 - Engine lubrication: 2 Eaton pumps / 1 rotor pump
2. 125/200 - Clutch: Wet multi-disc clutch hydraulically operated / Clutch in oil bath mechanically operated

The saddle height looks quite tall. Does anyone has any idea as to what it is? Really looking forward to this one.

re: Scoop: KTM Duke 200 caught testing in India!

Specs say that 95 RON fuel is required. Wonder how will Bajaj manage this part, considering the quality of fuel we often get.

@Shubz, the video wasnt of much help -except for a few seconds at the start & a few more from 2:33. :(
