Re: Triumph Street Triple: Ownership Review

And for the second trip, we headed out to Yercaud, a popular destination for bikers. Thoroughly enjoyed the ride, especially the part where we rode around Yercaud, lovely twisties, flowing through the coffee estates.

Re: Triumph Street Triple: Ownership Review

And with the ride to Yercaud, also came up my time to visit the service centre for the third service, with the service indicator showing I have another 220 kms to go before the service

Re: Triumph Street Triple: Ownership Review

Hi Sharath - is it mandatory to fill higher octane fuel after installing arrow exhausts? Or do you just use the normal unleaded fuel?

No high octane, just normal 91 RON will do, the Arrow map is specifically designed for that

Re: Triumph Street Triple: Ownership Review

The third service, at 20,000 kms turned out to be a major service, as it involves a thorough checkup and replacement of some parts. The checks done were as per the maintenance schedule:

And hence, the bill also turned out to be Rs 20000. The cost seems reasonable, since it's for 20k kms and now I don't have to worry about the service for the next 10k kms.

Post 3rd service, I just did a couple of rides, really short ones, as I was pressed for time. Bike remains smooth as before, changing the air filter brought back some of the punch lost.

Re: Triumph Street Triple: Ownership Review

Dear Sharath,

What do they mean by Service kit? Do they replace a list of components as per their maintenance schedule?

Re: Triumph Street Triple: Ownership Review

The service kit, includes an air filter, oil filter, fuel filter and a gasket for the engine head, as they have to do the valve clearance check. They're all billed under one title, Service Kit

Correct me if am wrong, does one showroom (that can accommodate 3-4 bikes @ a shot for service) manage all the triumphs in Bangalore @ time of service considering the good sales of triumphs here. That would be handful right for service technician?

Re: Triumph Street Triple: Ownership Review

Pratap.pratu, Keerthi Triumph have addressed that issue and now have a separate service garage on Lal Bagh road, which caters to all the major servicing needs. The new place is equipped to handle 6-8 bikes at a time and has individual lifts for 4 bikes at a time. At the same time, the service centre attached to the showroom can still handle emergency situations and all minor repair works

What gasket is this Sharath? Does it warrant to remove only the covers for the valve clearance or the complete head?

Sorry, maybe I mentioned engine head by mistake. Just the valve covers need to be opened up and the gasket is for fitting the valve cover back

Re: Triumph Street Triple: Ownership Review

Once in while, one needs to take a break from even the near and dear ones and head out to into the wilderness. Though it was not planned to be a solo ride, circumstances led me to head out on my own and do a circuit, which I had been planning for sometime now.

The initial inspiration for the ride was to head to Belur, to ride the famous Hassan-Belur stretch. However, when I reached there, the road was not as I had experienced 3-4 years ago. The surface, though good in most places, is all pock marked with potholes and the charm of the old road was lost.

So, I decided to head to Chikkamagalur and then ride up Mullayangiri, after going through this

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/travel...ml#post3759060

And I was not disappointed.

Though the rain wasn't much, the mist was intense and visibility was barely a few meters.

Triumph Street Triple: Ownership Review-img_20150802_102802515_hdr.jpg

With the road being narrow and slippery, it's quite an adventure going up the hill. With the rains, the hill has quite a few waterfalls, and the water was so refreshing!!

By the time I got down, it was only 10:30 and I was not in a mood to head back yet. So, I continued on the path to Tarikere, which traverses through parts of the Western Ghat forests. I had done this stretch before, but by car and had promised myself to do this stretch on the bike again, as the road is a biker's delight. On the way, I came across this place, Coffee and Pepper, a newly opened resort. Nestled in the forest, the ambiance of this place is just superb and so was the food. For now, they only serve coffee and snacks, with accommodation beginning in about a month 's time. The road leading to Tarikere from Chikkamagalur is a beautiful winding road, with coffee estates on either side.

No ride to Chikkamagalur can be complete without coffee, can it?
Triumph Street Triple: Ownership Review-img_20150802_113517942_hdr.jpg

Finally, headed back home via Birur- Kadur-Arsikere-Channarayapatna- Yediur- Bengaluru. At the end, didn't even realise I had covered 600kms, such was the awesomeness of this ride!!

Hey Sharath,

It was nice catching up with you on your way back. The exhaust notes were real music when you zipped by.

Would very strongly suggest you to do the Mullayanagiri, Baba Budang Giri & Kemmangundi circuit on a weekday. The nonsense weekend traffic jams and the mad crowds would not be there and you will have the place for yourself.

PS: Jog on the cards?
