Hey rocky where have you been??
No reply since the trip..
Covered 1600 km's since
Today a call came from mahindra that since you have bought a new car we are sending you an executive so that other members of the house who were not available the time of delivery can be also acquainted with the features!!
I was happy at the quality of the service..
two people came home and demonstrated all the features again
They had also bought my rc and foot mats, i had ordered for the plastic mats along with the carpet mats so that thet dont get dirty
I am encountring a problem..with the tyres ,the front rhs dueller has developed a long crack. I showed the service executives and they said that it would be replaced free of cost once passed by the person from bridgestone..
Other smaller problems are noise from the chrome exhaust tip,
Fitting problems with the seat covers for the armrests,
Excessive scratches on the interiors .

Also i find it a bit tedious to open the locks if you are not switching off the engine and have to open to doors to halt at the market....you have to either extend your left arm to the door or twist you right one to open....

Regards,
Do reply at the earliest..

hey sorry Don carmaster i do check the thread everyday except on weekends when i party. I haven't updated this thread as nothing much is happening on the vehicle it is running beatifully and almost close to its 3rd service as its run about 14,179kms and i should be covering another 900kms in the next 2 weeks.

I would suggest getting rid of the chrome exhuast tip, after all these are diesel engines and they will have some amount of vibrations causing rattling noise from the exhaust tip.

Thats quite a serious problem with the tire can you post pics of it . Get the tire replaced ASAP and don't drive the vehicle till then. After replacing the tire get the wheel balancing and alignment done from some good tire shop not at the showroom they usually don't do it properly because of heavy workload.
About the scratches, i use 3m vinyl and plastic protectant to clean these scratches.
About the seat covers show to the showroom guys and get it fixed or ask for replacement.

About the door lock exercise you were talking about you have to live with it i guess, i have got used to it and open it with my left arm.

Hi
Rocky i have a few questions.
1. With regards to the ICEing of the Xylo - The non existent boot is further cramped by the sub woofer. How have you fitted it in your vehicle.
2. I had learnt that the E6 version comes with dual colour is it true.
3. Can you retrofit the Ski rack.
Cheers

Hey doc i know it is cramped with the sub woofer. So i usually travel light. If i have to carry lots of luggage i remove it as the sub and its enclosure are not fixed but i made sure the sub box matched the contour of the rear bench so it does not move around when i drive without any luggage in the back.

yes doc the e6 version comes with dual colour like black body with silver bumpers and AFAIR there are about 3 combinations.
As for the Ski racks it is not advisable to retrofit it according to my dealer as they only stick it using double sided tape. But i remember somebody telling me(i think doncarmaster) that they drill holes to fix it in some service station. which may lead to water leakage according to my service advisor.

Today turned out to be the worst day of this year yet for me. Was driving from Indiranagar to BTM layout. Was stuck in the traffic jam near marutinagar and all of a sudden wham i hear a sound got out and saw that a jack*** Eicher driver trying to squeeze in between my vehicle and the footpath misjudged the clearance and rammed me resulting in his mirror rod(looked like a homemade contraption) which did not have a mirror pierce into the back of my baby. Screwed him royally felt like doing, but helpless to do anything else to him as he started begging sorry and not file a complaint, so i let him go as i did not want to go through all the police station hassles.

I wonder why people squeeze in between vehicles in a traffic jam just to get 2 feet ahead from where they were standing earlier ?

I took the vehicle immediately to the A.S.S and they have given me an estimate of rs 5000 for the tinkering and painting and replacement of the rear taillamp which is cracked. And the estimated time for repairs would be around 2 days.I am going to be leaving it for repairs tomorrow lets see what will be the actual cost and time for completion of the work.

Here is the damage done to my baby

Hey Rocky, sorry about this ! I have been following this thread, feels sad to know about the incident.

A good tinkering shop near my place would do this repair for a couple of grand, I am sure. I did similar repairs twice on my Scorpio, and was very satisfied. But will this affect the warranty ? I do not know.

Hope your Xylo comes back to shape soon !

Rocky, If I were in your place, there would've been
But then again, 5 Grand is too much man! Can't the dent be hammered into place? And has the rod penetrated right through the body?
The paint should be the only expensive part.

Just glad it wasn't my Xylo

Thanks for the support guys.

@Mooza I would have got it done outside but since my Xylo is a Little Off white colour i want the colour to be perfect so getting it done at the A.S.S.

@Finject I would have done the same had i been alone but i had my cousin sisters on board so did not want to get into any fight at that time.
Yup the mirror rod more like a spear(It was like a homemade spear meant to hold the mirror, which was very crude) has pierced right through the body. Actually the cost is not that high in my opinion for the entire rear left panel to be painted. Only the tinkering and painting costs rs 3500 but the tail lamp is a bit expensive as the entire module has to be changed cost rs 1300. The service advisor said no replacement was necessary. But my family has a weird thing about broken glass. So my Dad has asked me to get that replaced as well. Even though i told him that it was plastic and not damaged that badly(The crack is hardly visible).

I hope its nobody's vehicle that meets its fate in such manner standing at a traffic jam. I drive my baby with such care to avoid any scratches, but there are so many morons on the road who are least bothered about their vehicle and others.

hey don carmaster thanks for your kind words man. I am usually not that forgiving, as i was taking my cousin sisters who were sitting in the car.I did not want to get into a fight and besides i did not want to go through the hassles of the police station as i had more pressing matters to attend to at that time. Now i am really bummed out that i have my first major dent/hole in just 8 months of buying my new baby. I had never had an accident for 2yrs when i was driving my M800. Now my vehicle is dented just standing in the traffic jam for no fault of mine.

There is a small crack which is almost invisible to which my dad objected and i am getting it replaced as he has something against broken stuff in the car.

I am currently at 15,833 on the ODO. I am getting a usual mileage of around 12.5kmpl

Been closely following your thread on the life & trials of owning a Xylo..! Mine would begin next week. As coincidence would have it I'm also going in for an E8 - ABS - Diamond white (which seems more like an off white). It looks amazing and I'm waiting for it eagerly (I'm sure you guys would know how that feeling is!).

Has a query. The E8 is equipped with the usual music system from Mahindra. I was wondering if anyone of you have put in an amplifier or woofers onto the beast.

Need ideas on the Woofers and Amplifiers which would compliment the existing speakers/faceplate provided by mahindras.

Read that someone had installed ski racks onto E8. The sales guy here said that Ski racks mounted on an E8 or E4 might lead to corrossion since this is not company fitted. Anybody has a take on this?

Hey UB!!

Congrats on your decision to own a xylo.. You sure would love the vehicle and it would serve for miles together.
SO you will be the fourth owner of white E8 ABS!!

For the woofers/amplifiers rocky would tell you the best, as he threw his original system and installed pioneer.

But do not get the ski racks installed as even i wanted them and they retrofit by either with the double side tape ,which would probably get off soon or they would screw it in your vehicles body which results into rainwater seeping in.
So dont get that installed, even if they assure that nothing would happen.

Rest is the BEST,
Do take delivery time pics and start an extensive thread!

ALL THE BEST!

Regrads,
Sahil

Hey urban legend great to hear your going in for a E8 ABS Xylo. Its a great value for money and rugged car i can assure you of that.

About the woofers and amps i have installed them with a pioneer head unit as the one provided in the vehicle does not have support for amps and subs. You're better of buying a new 2din head unit if you want a thumping music system.

Get the rear spoiler fixed and forget about the ski racks as it can lead to problems at a later date.

Anyways enjoy your new ride and am waiting to read someone Else's review.

Here is a simple setup that I did.

Good luck with the wheels. Try HR. Recollect seeing a very good design. This was a matt hyper silver. Not too sure how it would look with white.
