Couple of questions. 1. Where did you purchase these items and how much did you pay for them? 2. Do you have some sort of guide on how to go about cleaning the car to get the best results? Thanks!

| re: VW Polo 1.2L (P) TL - 02 year, 2nd paid service Update Polo is running fine. Not much to update. Decided to keep rear bumper as it is, may be sometime next month shall take it to the dealer as the damage is minimal. Quote:

VW is very much aware of the issue as per the SAs at dealership. Not aware of any permanent solution (others if any please share), however recently @sadnabrina updated his 1.6 thread that VW did some software updates - but it would be too early to confirm resolution of the incident. Hope this helps - Below is quoted from @sadnabrina`s thread for information - Quote:

![]() 2. I can share with you what I follow -
once the interiors are dust free and cleaned I generally use waxpol on the dashboard, door pads, rubbers, and plastic parts. helps keep them soft and looking new
Hope I am able to help with your query. You may also refer the below link for more information - http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/modifi...edge-home.html Last edited by AvonA7 : 18th May 2011 at 21:59.

| re: VW Polo 1.2L (P) TL - 02 year, 2nd paid service Update Thank you Avon for your car detailing guide. ![]() Here is a list of detailing products I bought: I am unable to get the Jopasu Duster but anyways its not of much use in the rains. I just splash water on the car to remove most dust/dirt. Wash 500ml Manual Spray & 1liter Hand Pump Spray Bottles Microfibers & Chamois - 3M, Xstatic, Optimum, Others Wash - Formula1 100 Washes - Wash & Wax Wax Microfibers - 3M, Xstatic, Optimum, Others Wax Applicator Pads Formula1 Carnuba Car Wax Collinite 845 Glass Glass Wiper Xstatic Optical Glass Cloth Max FX Glass & Surface Cleaner Foam Glass Science Glass Cleaner and Rain Repellent Tires Armor All Ultra Shine Tire Foam AJ Tyre Dress Express Applicator Interiors Carpet Brush Planning to buy Collinite 855 for Leather/Vinyl/Dash Others Storage Basket for the above 3M Adhesive remover I see a lot of Tar spots on the lower body of my car paint, even on the hood. Many have advised the use of WD-40 but I bought Min Cream which works really well but is time consuming as it cannot be applied all over the paint but just the tar marks. Also, a concentrate of Formula1 100 washes, is recommended to remove tar marks. Anything simpler than this? I was advised that Claying is not required for a new car. Will try out all these things this weekend and post the results. Cheers ![]() Quote:

| re: VW Polo 1.2L (P) TL - 02 year, 2nd paid service Update There is not much to update on my Polo. Last 2.5 months, very few kms covered as mostly in-n-out of Pune. Issues -
Misc - Went to the dealer to get the rear bumper painted - concerned people at dealership adviced against it (as the damage is minimal and mostly the rear number plate took the impact, an auto hitting the rear bumper at traffic signal), so decided against replacing/repainting the rear bumper and agreed on replacing the damaged number plate - all done and delivered to me within an hour, .i.e. the new number plate @275/- including 12.8% vat. Just to share - The insurance adviser was quite friendly in advising me not to spend money un-necessarily on replacing/repainting the rear bumper ( I do not have the 0% depreciation insurance, so I needed to share 2.5K as 50% of bumper replacement cost) and he ended up saying - Sir, jaise chote bacche ko kala tika lagate hai, usi tarah aap bhi ye tora sa dent car pe rakh dijie, najar nahi lagegi. Agar kharcha hi karna hai to bara damage pe kharcha karna I don't know what to say, even though funny but I agreed with his PoV. Extended Warranty - Registered for the extended warranty program for 1.2L Petrol Polo. Cost - 7199/- Some of the Terms and Conditions : - Applicable till 04 years from date of purchase of car till 100,000KMs, after the default 2 yrs / unlimited KMs warranty. - Can be transferred to new owner, in case of sale of car before 04 years from date of purchase - Plastic/vinyl parts excluded in the extended warranty - If car not serviced within the specified time/km interval from VW authorized dealer, extended warranty will cease to exist - before taking the extended warranty one needs to make sure the same is registered at the dealership ( I was asked about the Sales Person Name who dealt with my car delivery ) and also the service history/details needs to be entered into the extended warranty booklet during each service ======================= Query : Fellow Polo owners and experienced car owners, please share your point of view. I remember, when the car was new (< 1 month) : 4th gear @2000 rpm, speed = 60km / hr 5th gear @2000 rpm, speed = 80 km / hr Recently, noticed : 4th gear @2000 rpm, speed = 55km / hr 5th gear @2000 rpm, speed = 70 km / hr No difference in speed@rpm for 1st,2nd & 3rd gear though. Please note the difference in speed at same rpm. Is there anything I should be worried about ? Car runs more smooth than before and no problems whatsoever. ======================= Quote:

BTW, I`m no expert, still, would like to mention, better to have good quality Chamois to dry car after washing. Chamois is THE BEST followed by m/f cloth. Quote:
However, from personal experience, Sonax concentrated liquid (25ml mixed with 2.5L of (mineral) water) is a fantastic product and I`m happy with the end result + collin is always available ![]() Quote:

a. Vaccum the interiors - IMO, the important step b. Repeating : Formula1, Meguiars, Sonax or simply our desi product Waxpol once a month solves the purpose for dashboard, vinyl/plastic/rubber parts - to keep them soft and shining. Sorry mate, no idea. Quote:
Better is : it may sound funny though, still taking the risk of sharing , whenever I return home after driving in rain, I make sure to dry the car using chamois/mf towel so that water droplets do not end-up creating unwanted marks on the car body. I have noticed, if I follow this, there is not much to worry about tar marks etc on the lower parts of the car. Quote:
Claying is required to make ones car paint surface smooth. Now, as per your post, what is the definition of new car - for eg. if I drive 5000kms in 02 months and similarly a car can be driven 5000kms in one year - so which one is new? Bottom line is, use clay bar, if you feel roughness on the car body. Clay followed by sealant and wax will help maintain your car`s shine better than most so called professional treatment. This is from personal experience. * The Superb Car Detailing Guide already available in Team-BHP with experts as regular contributors is the best source of information and suggestion (IMO) for car maintenance. The speed attained at each gear depends on the gear ratios and that has not changed. So, why does the car attain lower speeds now than before as if the gearing is changed to shorter one? I don't know the reason but should be investigated IMO.

![]() Frankly what I expected is to get the speed@rpm readings for Polo 1.2 Petrol to tally with my car readings. And I do not know why these basic stats are not mentioned in the car manual for easy reference. It is good to have these stats, at least in the official car reviews of reputed car magazines. Sharing the below readings based on the drives I took today for owner's like me who, may (un)-necessarily give importance to small things in their rides - Quote:
The below readings are noted as exactly the same in the above mentioned 02 cars -
The below readings are noted as same in both the cars - 3rd gear = 40km/hr = 2k rpm 4th gear @ 2.2Krpm = 60km/h 5th gear @ 2K rpm = 70km/h In the end relieved to come to the conclusion that things are fine and nothing unusual in my car. ---------------------------- BTW, ABS is one good thing to have in a car. I was of the impression that Polo ride and handling at high speeds (>100km/h) is fantastic in my car (w/o ABS). It was drizzling most of the day in Pune today, so roads were wet and slippery. While driving the HL (with ABS) realized how good the braking and handling can be with high specification tires and ABS - while braking at speeds over 100km/h on straight lines and on curves, the car felt much much more controlled at high speeds compared to my car (w/o ABS), its a must to have feature, IMO even if it costs some more 'M'. | re: VW Polo 1.2L (P) TL - 02 year, 2nd paid service Update Great post AvonA7 and congratulations!!! I'm in the market for VW OEM HU for my dad's Polo Trendline (booked last week), he is based in Kolkata, dealership is unable to offer what we want (they are offering 4 options all Kenwood, 1 of those 2 DIN). Nothing wrong with those, but personally I like the OEM HU much better. Can anyone help us? Thanks so much. BTW I'm a new member (just got approved, yay!), have been following all of your posts for some time now, thank you all for this fantastic forum! |

As for your query - dealership is unable to offer what we want (they are offering 4 options all Kenwood, 1 of those 2 DIN). Nothing wrong with those, but personally I like the OEM HU much better Kenwood 2DIN as offered by VW showroom is not worth IMO, reason : - twice the price - almost same in terms of sound quality (output) - OEM HU --> fit-n-finish is much better, I got the OEM HU at 10K with 04 speakers an year ago and the sound quality is very good, also in terms of fit-n-finish it looks better as its customized for Polo (not that HU available outside looks bad, but OEM ones are customized and hence integrate well with the dashboard and overall get-up of the car interiors ![]() No. of POLO`s delivered now a days are much more compared to an year ago. Suggestion - Even for the time being if the OEM HU is not available with the particular dealership, chances are that it`ll be available sooner than later, keep in touch with the accessories guy in the dealership. As you didn't mention your expectations about the audio setup in your car w.r.t. to sound quality/bass/treble/frequencies ... etc so I am not sure what exactly you are looking for - let me summarize in one sentence what I have experienced with OEM HU - for an average music buff its more than sufficient, its very good. All the best and wish you many happy miles with your New POLO, enjoy your new ride and share your experience, its a fantastic car ![]() Last edited by AvonA7 : 27th August 2011 at 22:24. | Update - 01 year, 01st service Polo completed one year this month. There were some occasional visits to the showroom for stone getting stuck in the brake caliper area, left side pulling, denting/painting for the minor scratches and to clarify few silly doubts (from myside) from the technicians at the dealer. All these issues resolved without any charges. Got the extended warranty for my Polo. Experience with Vidyut Motors so far is very good. Car mostly ran within city limits with highway drive contributing ~30% of total KMs covered. Received couple of free summer/monsoon camps invitation from VW, didn't visit the dealer as there was no issue with the car and once probably out of station, but planning to visit if I receive the next invitation (may be during winter). Bought a lot of products for car maintenance - from simple brush to rubbing compound/foam cleanser/wax/protectant/clay bars and the list goes on...! Outcome of using these products is very good and thanks to Team-BHP, especially all the members for sharing their experience on using different products and its outcome. It really looks and feels good seeing the car shining and that too from our own effort. But not so during monsoon where the shine may last only a minute if its bad luck ![]() Checked tire pressure regularly once a week in petrol pumps. Highway 32 psi and city 30-31 psi maintained. Polo 1.2 P is fuel efficient, I have the entire figure of fueling-place/cost/trip/odo, some snapshot - minimum FE - 11.1 km/ltr maximum FE - 14.74 km/ltr Average FE - 13.5 - 13.75 km/ltr within city limits Never measured full highway FE - with highway (70%) + city (30%) = maximum received so far is 17.04 km/ltr Driving wise, I have nothing more to add apart from what already has been mentioned in the official review and fellow BHPians reviews. Just like to mention that Apollo Acelere tires are very good, 1 puncture till date but by good I mean driving at speed at 70-80km/hrs in rains and it never skidded so far, road noise is not that serious and it depends on the surface mostly - concrete roads more noise, smooth tar roads hardly any noise. Thats it I believe, nothing more to add. 01st paid service summary - Booked an appointment by calling 10 days in advance, even though the dealership initially offered a date 2weeks later however bought it down to within a week. Left the car and collected next day as scheduled. Issues reported - driver side power window sometimes refuses to function and again within 2 mins starts working fine, 1st-2nd-3rd gear is not that smooth what it used to be initially, screeching noise from brake for the initial 500mtrs after a cold start especially during rainy days. After the service - driver side power window still refuses to function occasionally, screeching noise from brake for the initial few 100 mtrs present after driving in rains, gear operation is super smooth now. Software upgrade/campaign - 4818, 57D7, 97U2, 97T9, rat bite proof coating (not sure where but was told that it is done to some wire), some chip installed. Total cost of 01st paid service - 3745/- including 12.5%vat and all other taxes. KMs covered at the time of service 7915km. |
