2nd-Gen Volvo XC60 to be launched on December 12, 2017

Volvo has announced that the second-generation XC60 will be launched in India on December 12, 2017.

The new Volvo XC60 is based on the Scalable Product Architecture (SPA). This is the same platform that underpins the new XC90, S90 sedan and V90 estate. At launch, the XC60 will likely be offered in just one top-spec trim level – Inscription. Previous media reports suggest that the top-spec variant comes fitted with 19-inch alloy wheels, air suspension and a Bowers & Wilkins audio system. In Inscription trim, the XC60 also gets radar-based safety systems and head-up display. Nappa leather upholstery will be standard on this variant.

The XC60 will be offered with a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder D5 diesel engine which produces 232 BHP @ 4,000 rpm and 480 Nm of torque @ 1,750 - 2,250 rpm. This will likely be the only engine option available at launch. An 8-speed automatic gearbox will be part of the package in addition to all-wheel drive.

The second-generation XC60 will be assembled locally at Volvo’s manufacturing plant in Bangalore. It will rival the Land Rover Discovery Sport, Audi Q5, BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC in the Indian market.
