On a Uneven (undulating) incline the weight is on the Rear Axle (considerable portion) and the Front Shackle opens (becomes vertical), thereby changing the COG, and when this happens rapidly the vehicle flips backwards, in the above case the First Two attempts I was too fast and the vehicle slid to the left. It is to be noted that Arkas jeep has rear auto locker and any extra uncontrolled power here with out wheel slip would have flipped the jeep. But as it was sand it slowly gave way creating extra wheel slip, the climb was conquered. The rest followed. | |

About your first point, it becomes critical to judge the proper runup for each obstacle especially in Palar. I have seen 4X4s take to long of run up hoping to have extra momentum and in that effort loose the momentum in the process. What we should not forget is that this is sand and once we hit the peak in that gear, over a long distance you tend to ease up that power thereby losing momentum just before the obstacle. A very good example would be our last obstacle with the steep incline. Some of the vehicles were taking too long of a run up resulting in them actually losing speed by the time they come to the obstacle. About deflating tyres, maybe the offroaders can have it as an action item to be done when the hubs are locked. | |
