Dont know if this is correct, maybe Rough Terrain / Sand(or Snow)
or Rocky Terrain / Sand(or Snow).
Is the Mahindra Pikup rims any different from 340/540 rims? I know it is 15 inch, but what width? what weight? Is it strong enough for offroading purpose?
Anyone got close up photograph?
Right now I have 235/75R15 tube tyres on 15x4.5J rims, not the ideal setup.
BTW, are these tyres available now in India:
Goodyear Wrangler MT/R
BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM
Dunlop Radial Rover R/T
Sorry guys one mistake in my earlier post the maxiss tyre size is 31x11.5-15 and not 31x10.5-15

So this is the next project now on the 340 after the heating project . Great. Thats the good/bad part of owning a 4x4 -- that once one project get's over you are onto the next :)

I think not from official sources. Some private imports do get these but for a huge price -- I have heard about 9-11 K for 31" M/T tyres.
I had even asked Yoko office and they said that they had no plans to get M/T as the market here in India is not there.
My Gypsy has Yokohoma Geolander A/T tires, performance on off-roading is excellent. just completed munnar OTR with this tires and it never let down.

Where do you people source these NDMS tyres. I have been searching them for past one month. CEAT stopped making it, MRF dealers said they are having hard time sourcing it. |
SirAlec, the NDMS tyres in size 6.00 x 16 is easily available in Bangalore. Also available for the jeep is another tyre called Big Rover. Check the link below for both NDMS and Big Rover.
.:: Welcome to MRF Tyres ::.
I was wondering how good are the Big Rover tyres when compared to NDMS?

Horrible. Hard compound meant for mileage. Good only for tarmac. Are mostly used by the Jeeps ferrying folks in villages.

Hi Zulfikar,
Stick to the NDMS pattern of tyres for two reasons
1) Nothing compares to them Off the Road.
2) The JEEPs look best in NDMS in a bigger size i.e 7.00x15 & 7.00x16 |
Arka, so far all the shops in Bangalore only have NDMS in 6.00x16. Where can I find 7.00x15 tyres? I plan to use these on my CJ3B along with 15 inch rims from the FC.

The newer NDMS made by Birla, Ceat & Goodyear have cleats running parallel to the centre rib, results in much better performance on wet roads. |
Which of the above are good in terms of on/off-road performance? How good are Apollo Hunter NDMS tyres?

I don't know, hence the question. Meanwhile I just found the price of this steel rim from the Mahindra shop, it is apparently 2500 per rim.:Shockked: I can as well go for alloys by adding a little more.

agree:. The classic 3 spoke 'rally' design on 15" is available for 4K. I just got a quote from a dealer. Available in 7J and 8.5J
Cheers,
Gents, what is the best A/T tyre upsize for the Safari? I have 6.5J x 16" OE alloys and need something that will marginally increase the GC without adversely affecting anything else.
Current tyres are OEM Bridgestone Dueler H/T 235/70 R16
I think 255/65 is the correct upsize
but Apollo Hawkz AT comes in stock size with 16" rims

The alloys + new AT tyres will cost at least 50K! I think I'll postpone this one for now.

Do what i did, speak to your local dealer to call you up when someone comes in to change his rims to alloys. And get the rims for much less :)
I have collected 2 sets for my Classic overtime. If one bends, use another.
PS: I dont use the wire wheels while offroading.
