Team-BHP - The Offroad Rims & Tyres Thread

If someone comes across a good deal for tyres and rims for my CL340, pls let me know. I missed a deal of BFG M/T 15" , done ~250 kms for 4500/- each in my last trip to Delhi(they were already sold).

I am open to 15" as well as 16" options.

Spending a 1k extra per tyre and getting brand new ones dosent hurt too bad.

Of all the things to be bought second hand, tyres are the least desirable.

Yogesh,

You are right, BFG M/T's would be for 8500 or so. The A/T's are the ones in the 5500-6000 bracket. I dont think any Mud terrain tyre from any make would be for 5500 a tyre. Harjeev had found out the costing for BFG AT's and said they were around the same 5500 price tag.

Do you think that M/T's will be a good option for you. As these are not good for tarmac and assuming that you will be coming to delhi too for the OTR's and even if you make 1 trip in a month and 12 in a year, that will be 6k kms. So the M/T's will wear out in a year or 2.
Do you think that its worth it???

About Rims- There are many people who change Alloys of their their new Safari's or Scorpio or some premium sedans, are these a good/cheap option?

Also there are many of us who like to upgrade fast, so though of asking here.

I got BFG AT for 5,500RS each and if you are going to do substantial road usage as well as a bit of OTR then AT's might be best bet.

As for Scorpio / Safari rims, 4x4 addict has Scorpio rims on his Jeep. To fit these he got the hubs on his Jeep changed to Bolero 4x4 hubs which have the right PCD for those rims. Other method is to get PCD adapters.

Hi Yogesh,

About the Alloys. You must keep in mind

a) The Hammering your rims will take in an OTR. If they get damageged you are gone.

b) Incase of punchers use of Hammer and rod will happen.

Keep the a) point foremost in your mind. As now being a part of NIOC your Jeep is not only for show and a city drive but Offoading also.

Guys, one of my friends who is doing an MM 540 4X4 rebuild is pondering the option of getting Yokohama Geolandar 275/60 R15 tyres.

They sure would get the Jeep to look good and the driver muscular! But would they

1. Foul with the body on full turns?
2. Scrape the body work on bumps?

These are questions that readily come to mind. I know there are many more pros and cons.

Jeep Gurus! Please enlighten!

why dont you check BF-GOODRICH AT ones they are reaal good one. i have fitted for my few customers. the best size is 31x10.5 you can either fit it on gypsy rims or new mahindra pick up rim if you looking for steel rims.

Dear thanks for helping him out, but if you happened to look at the date of the query it's good 3 year old!!. I'm pretty sure Mr. Zulfikar would have bought and worn out his tire by now. Maybe he needs a new set now. But I do appreciate your gesture and concern. Keep posting.

This was exactly something what I was looking for in 16's but alas dint find anything.
I have seen the pattern, how is the performance in mud, slush, sand, rocks etc...

Couple of days back I was at the MRF dealership for getting wheel alignment done for the Jeep. I saw MRF Wanderer AT tyres displayed there and checked it out.

It is a soft tyre, I could pinch the treads easily, which means good for road grip, braking and ride comfort. But it might wear off much faster. The side wall is also very very flexible and soft. I could pinch it easily. It has every sign of a good highway tyre, except for the tread pattern.

I don't think this one can be considered as an offroading tyre at all. I'd like to be proven wrong though.
