Re: Thar Crde and an Isuzu Monk

Friends,

I'm planning to do the below single cab concept on my jeep as the next upgradation. Please share your views or pics. May trade off the shell to a soft top shell if I get the right price, anyhow I have to cut the current Hard-top and a frame to Mahindra pick up.

Dear Rajith - ! You are crazier than me. At least I got "somebody else" to pay for the whole thing. The photograph also looks the same, I saw the 2009 photograph just now before typing! Hahaha!

Best regards,

Re: Thar Crde and an Isuzu Monk

After long hauls between interstate garages and friendly hands Monk is finally back to its space.

Upgraded the differential ratio to a unique 4.55 from 4.27.
Replaced MM540 dash board to Boleros.
Instrument cluster from Bolero DI Turbo.
Added Oil Pressure & Voltage metre in the centre console,RPM metre from Taiwan on RHS of the dash board.
Retained old chilling Super king cooling system.
Replaced the OE Hitachi alternator with Lucas 90Amps on Isuzu motor.
Inserted Custom made 6 lines - 300 tubes Copper core Radiator.
Upgraded break booster with THAR CRDe system.
New Delphi AC condenser.
Successfully altered RCBT - RANE power steering system on THAR CRDe chassis and bolero dash board without welding the intermediate shafts to compensate the extra length.

All works fine. Crazy expenses.

Picture follows.

Dear Rajith,

Congrats for your third Thar. BD sir must be smiling from heavens.

I would like to know about the status of brake booster update in post 2015 updated Thar. Are the brakes upgraded or do we still have to update them?

Regards,
Kanwar

Re: Thar Crde and an Isuzu Monk

New Hard top from Mahindra customization installed on my 2017 Thar crde at Bangalore last week.Took 4 days to deliver.

Neat fit and finish. No dust, leakage or squeaks till date.

Cost wise found @ +40K compared to other market players.Preferred to stick with OEM seeking peace of mind.

Hi Ranjit,

I am a proud owner of a MM550 running a SZ2600 engine.
I am interested in adding a Oil Pressure and Voltage Meter for the same and would appreciate your guidance for the same.

Thanks,

Here is a pic of my Invader dash. I went to an older established Auto-electrical shop and this fellow just happened to have a water temp gage and voltage gage for Mahindra in stock. You will see a round disk like indent between the two gages.
This is what all three holes looked like in my dash. The electrician only had to knock out the two similar plastic disks and insert the tubular gages which fit perfectly. He ran wires thru pre-existing holes in the fire wall and made the connections in the engine compartment. The gages are back-lit and work perfectly. So, my advice, look for an older established electrical shop that used to do this kind of thing regularly. I think an oil pressure gage may be a little work. He may have to install a sensor...dunno. It took about 2 hours to do. There are dashboard modification shops around if things get complex for you.

Hey Dan,
Thanks for the prompt response.
I have a plain old steel dash, so placement is not going to be an issue.
My query is primarily around the oil pressure gauge, and more about whether the SZ2600 has a oil pressure sensor I can utilize for this.
As for the Volt meter, it should be a simple enough install I would assume.

So, my specific question to gurus, does SZ2600 have an oil pressure sensor.

If yes, what is its placement?
If no, is it possible to include it?

As always,
Thank in advance.

Hi,
Volt meter can be easily fitted by taking a link from alternator.
For Oil pressure meter you have to fabricate a T union and fit to the block where the current oil pressure light switch is fitted. In T union you can fit oil pressure light and meter switches so that light and meter will work together inside the cabin. Ensure that oil pressure meter and sensor are of same Make.
Rajith.

Thanks Ranjith,

Any leads on the made and model for the parts used?
Wanna try and do it myself, so all guidance would be appreciated.
