Thank you for the actual figures! The PVC was actually chosen due to my dire need to see how the Jeep looks with the exhaust extension as soon as possible.

It has been replaced with metal pipe now. Also, as the Jeep doesnt look that good with this ON, I might as well use it only in water crossings.. Rest of the time, it will lie safely in the back.

Now, need to fabricate snorkel using tiller snorkel head, which IIRC costs less than 500 bucks..

Dhanush, hope the air pressure gauge gives accurate readings.
Last time, a similar one was used at a prominent M&M ASC (during wheel alignment) and the difference when compared to the digital one @ the fuel pump next door was ~ 10psi. :-)

Its more than a year since this Jeep has been in my ownership. Thought it would be nice to upload some pics of the Jeep, some places it has taken us to, and the good times we have had with it!

Jeevan, I checked the pressure in my car as well as the Jeep. Car pressures were 30 psi all round, and Jeep was 15, 26, 28, 24. So, I guess its correct.

OK, So, I've bought this Rope Seal and Stick, to plug in that leak, and see if I can run on 15W 40 oil again.

Changed the half seal.

However, one thing I noticed after using thicker oil is a slight increase in oil pressure. Now, when engine is hot and idling, the pressure is 2.

hmm... when engine is hot and idling, isnt it OK?.. I mean, even if you give slight dab on the pedal, it jumps to 3 and then 4 on medium revving... Not Sure....

---------------------------------------------------------

For the last 10 days, the Jeep is doing a consistent ~125 kilometers a day, with some slight off the road purposes too.. With the leak plugged in, and an FE of about ~11.5kmpl, I'm a happy man!

Dear Dhanush - your monster is all ready to do battle. Well done, be careful with the engine, otherwise its built like a tank. All the best!

Thank you BD Sir!

Being accustomed to cars couple of years back, when I bought jeep, I was of the impression that my engine was crude initially... However, upon comparison, I now feel its like a horse... Ready to jump anytime.. . Monsoons are here, and I need to use the 2nd lever each and every day..and I'm loving the throttle response and revvability of the XD3P!!..

Yes, I will take care of my engine.. As of now:
  • Even in 2nd/1st low/high and revving to glory, I make sure engine is warm enough before I do that..
  • After a stint of high rpms, keep high idle (around 1500rpm/~2.5-3 bar) for a couple of minutes before shutting off engine.
  • I do not have a thermostat, so, no load carrying/revving till running temperature attained.
I'm like.. babying my engine as I'm still not convinced about the XD3P rebuild skills of mechanics around me.

btw, an old mechanic/mahindra A.S.S owner, has suggested I use this product: http://www.nulonindia.com/productdet...nt-350-ml.html

Your take on it?

Dear Dhanush - engine will give good performance and life if clean air, clean fuel and clean lubricant are supplied to it. I had tried two times and broke two crankshafts!

You are using your XD3 in the correct way, you will not have any issue. For God's sake, please don't put AC.

Best regards,

Behram Dhabhar

Thank you sir. No AC for now, and by next summer, I have a strange idea that a second hand Thar CRDe will suit me better...

The add-ons it offers when compared to MM540/550 is completely worth the extra penny. I cant even imagine going to the Palar Challange driving my MM540 in the expressway. I would rather go @120kmph in the expressway and sacrifice a little(?? ) off-roading ability. Another reason for the Thar is, it is much..much more wife-friendly.

I will try to get a set of diff-locks for the Thar. I guess that should do it.

Not sure if this thought will change, but its an idea.. lets see if it grows..

I guess its time to change my tyre.. It'll still run 20-25 k easily ON ROAD, however, slush sticks all over it. :(

Today, continuous winching for 3+ hours has drained my battery for good!.

Wondering on which alternator to upgrade?!
