No links but Zac wiped off his hands saying this to me after the incident! I have no reason to believe he isn't saying it to others, as it came to my knowledge.

I agree with what you say, however I have been pampering the car like any of us petrolheads would do. I do off-road almost on weekly basis. In fact like I said in my post above, there are multiple cars with similar usage as mine and on OEM suspension without any breakage, hence now my faith in the brand has shakenm especially in terms of after sales support.

I was speaking to a friend of mine in Australia where he said his setup (same as mine, nitrogas shocks with load rated springs) is doing well at 140k kms, and he goes to the bush quite often.

Completely agree, and you got to understand shock absorber breakage is super rare thing these days. .Anshuman is currently in Mahindra dealership and getting his XUV's shocks changed because his had become quite weak lately, very similar usage to my car and yet very minor signs of leakage from one shock only.

Obviously he is getting the all four shocks changed right now.

Incidentally I attended the event at ICC and saw your car. Looks magnificent, a great rig for the outdoors lifestyle. With so many showboaters around throwing money at ricer mods, it is refreshing and grounding to see good old ingenuity and hard work making your Pajero come alive. My journey with the V-Cross is just beginning.

Post the tip around tyre pressure, I bought the Michelin inflator, works like a charm. Not my video but a nice demo of this tool.

Ah! Quite a while ago during the Autohangar Merc Event.

It's nearly two months since i updated this thread.

Not much mods have happened during this time, since i was travelling for nearly a month.

Last time i travelled for a month and left the pajero in the garage, i returned to disaster. Fungus growth everywhere.




It was a pain to get rid of it and spraying and scrubbing with vinegar and airing the car out solved it. This time i was more prepared.

A kg of silica gel crystals were spread out through out the vehicle.



These crystals are orange in colour and costs approx Rs. 350 a kg and can be reused.



When i came back after a month, they had turned bluish green indicating that they had absorbed moisture from within the vehicle. The great news is that there was no growth of fungus at all.



The best part is that you can heat the crystals on a pan and it gets rid of the moisture it absorbed and slowly turns orange again.






Tip: Don't put the entire kg in the pan. Just put enough so that there is just one layer touching the pan. This will dramatically speed up the process. As soon as it turns orange transfer to a container and add new batch. Once done, store in airtight container.

The car has crossed a lakh kms and yesterday got some time to get a service done at Sanjayraj Mitsubishi.



Routine service and everything was found normal. Fluids changed, 9 greasing points, well greased. The new suspension re torqued. Timing chain, etc all fine.

Just one thing found. One shaft boot on the inner left side showed a tear. Thankfully the grease had not escaped. New one not in stock and on order. Should be ready for fitment in a few days.



Other Miscellaneous stuff:

Picked up a JFK II Cb radio for the Pajero from Gurgaon when we were there for an event. Will be fitted below the single din Pioneer music system.



Commissioned an artist (Jay Nugroho from Indonesia) to get the Pajero illustrated! Love it!

God! That looks terrible! I guess the high humidity around Mumbai, caused this?

Silica gel is a good tip, guess it can be kept in the car during monsoons as well, to arrest any dampness in the cabin.

How much do these typically cost? Have thought about it for sometime now.

Are the handheld walkies any good for driving in convoys or such radios are the bare minimum requirement?

Approx Rs. 14000. This is a top model. I think range starts at 8k.

The CB handheld is pathetic. I have one and it's fairly useless in a long convoy.

The UHF handhelds are very good but unless you have a license, they are illegal and you can be arrested. Rather, get a fixed CB and peace of mind.

Don't know which variety of Silica Gel was used, but would be wary of using kitchen utensils for reheating. Please read shared post and few posts below that.

SG reheating

On recent trip to ahmedabad for a lecture I dropped into XS Overland store. Wonderful place and I got chatting with the owner, Vishal Joshi and was impressed by his future plans and the products he will soon be importing.

I picked up a pair of Hella Value LED lights as reverse lights to be mounted on the roof rack.

These are slim and the throw is "spread"





Fitted them on the spot light mounts of the Rhino Rack

Going to get the wiring for this and the front HID fogs done by a professional.

Finally got time to get the wiring done.

Went to a professional a bit of wiring was required to pulled and i wasn't too confident of doing it alone.

Ran the wire from below the roof rack.

Wired the rear fogs and front HIDs & kept a socket for the awning lights (to be fit later).





Needed to make a small notch to run the wire into the cabin.




Even fit the CB radio below the single din music system.

Wow, that's a scary fungus growth you have there.

Any pointers where these silica gels are generally available? Thanks.

P.S.: Am in Bangalore mostly, but then do visit the Western part quite often.

i bought it online from Amazon india. Approx Rs. 400 per kg

It sure is; prompted me to get a packet and place it in my Safari, which is usually parked, with no one using it, for weeks together now.

Got if off eBay.
