Turning radius- Can match a small car
Clutch- Butter smooth again hydraulic
Suspension- Had a minor shackle lift and Bilstein socks made world of a difference. Who says solid axle leaf spring cannot ride well?
Hard top- Low on height but work execution was superb (M&M can take few cues from it)
Off road- Fantastic!
Nice. Thanks for write up. May be a stupid question, but can you feel a different ride with FFRA Vs SFRA?? ie bolero rear axle Vs mm540/550 rear axle?

4x4addict: With a drive like this, why the Scorpio? Just kidding, it is your choise.

4x4addict, Excellent Jeep. Congrats on making your own version of Thar with solid front axles . I guess you will be extending the snorkel pipe.
Personally I dont like the rear fender flares.May be should try getting the CJ type.

FFRA and SFRA are types of axles and has nothing to do with ride quality.

Well some people are just too lucky to have two formidable vehicles in their arsenal. Scorpio is for family 4wd-ing and 540 is for Bachelor 4wdriving

Hello to all my friends at T-BHP,

I've been lying low for quite some time now but mind you I follow all the threads . And in this time I've been able to get some minor cosmetic changes to my baby.This includes a roll bar, lowering the B-Pillar(hope m right here sorry if m wrong but its the pillar next to the doors) by 1 inch, spot painting job which ended in a complete single coat paint cos I couldn't get the original previous paint (but i got the original millitary olive green) . right now I'm in the process of getting a new soft top. still have to fit fenders and get new Hella fog Lamps. So here's my Jeeps new look, Hope u all like it. I just love it.

Hey Johannes,
Your Jeep looks AWESOME!
The terrain and your Jeep gel so well and that makes those pictures so nice.
Cheers,
Deepak

@starter,GrayBerry, motorpsycho, gotzuk

Thank you guys for all your wonderful comments, actually I had been at the workshop for 1 full week, morning to evening to supervise into every detail to make the Jeep look the way it is, even helped cleaning the old paint off the rims. Now I can't wait to see how the soft top sits on the rollbar frame... The pictures were taken in a place in East Khasi Hills District about 25-30 Kms from Shillong and its a first visit to this place for me too..

@Fazal sir,
Well actually they are still stuck in Hyderabad, My cousin's brother is gonna bring them here personally since he's visiting hyd. I Guess that's a lot safer than courier and I don't have to pay for it :-) .

Hi Johanes,

A very Smart JEEP. Nice work on the B-Pillar.

You have a FFRA, which one?

Hello Arka,
Thanks, well I'm just a noob when it comes to identifying specifically which FFRA its got but most probably its the original Army 550 ones, I've seen quite a few with these and also without these in ex-Army 550's . Even I'm wondering whether they are standard or it depends on the year of manufacturing of the vehicle or some other criteria. Mine is 1998 XDP.

regards,
