Ricky, the paint finish of your Jeep is the best that I have ever seen in this forum. Congratulations once more!

Hi Guys!!!!

Hey Hey!!!

I am back after got married in Nov and getting possesion of my new flat in Pune . I was posting some random posts sometimes during these days but was not fully up here.

Anyways coming to the point... I still have few things to do on my Jeep which are like Hard top, AC , etc..

Hard Top - Just A thought - Following things come to my mind

1) Which is the best suited hard top for MM550 ? Is there any company recomended or company fitted top available?

2) Installing hard top will have any effect on FE?

3) During Off road any issue?

What are your views on hard top ? Will it look good with the existing color of the Jeep? I have seen some of the company tops like "Stallion" or "Roplac" etc. Which is good?

The reasons behind this thought are
a) AC fitting
b) Better Security

Is there any soft top option available with which I can install AC . I like the way Fazal has put the new soft top on his new Jeep. I am bit confused. Pls help . I am attaching the pic of my Jeep .
Pls note the current soft top will be removed immed.after sorting out this .

Thanks 4X4 Addict ,

Gone through the thread but seems not much info on it. I want some serious stuff so as to get conviced for hard top.
Looking at the soft tops by Fazalbhai, Harjeev, Satnam and all our fellow BHPs I am still in soft top party .

Congratulations on your marriage.

One option for AC with a soft top is to have a divider just behind the front seats. The guy who did your roof cover should be able to add this. I forgot the users name but the guy from Rajasthan with the blue 550 had this on his build.

Saw this one in Patiala. Looked as if they had added an extra window in the middle. For some reason this green colour is quite popular in Patiala, second 550 I saw in this colour there.

I quite liked the top on RedMM340's MM550.

Raj Kapoor at Noida did the work.

Sorry, no pics as the car has been at the shop for about a year for the hard top. Hoping to get it in Jan 2010.

Hey Guys,

Dropped the idea of putting hard top , instead I will now change the soft top like Fazal Sir has put in.

Now the next question - Which is best AC - condensor conbination for 550 ? what are the mods needed and how does an ac perfom on Ex army 550?

You can go for the combination we used to put in the Ambassador back in the days.

Sandem 507 or 506 Compressor and Unicla blower under the dash. This is set up I have on my 540 and also had in my tatamobile and it works fine. Since your cabin area is small I think the 506 compressor will suffice as there will be less load on the engine than the 507.
