Why would M&M develop two different chassis, when it knows that THAR will be sold in very small number compared to other vehicles in the portfolio.
thank you very much for the valuable comment on the matter.

drive safe and enjoy your ride.

Guys, can wheels with different offset be used for negating the difference in front and rear tracks?

Yeah, offroaders regularly use negative offset alloys to get a wide track. It has to be done within reason, it does affect the steering dynamics.

How to determine the best offset for such applications i mean a compromise between highway use and for offroading?

OT-What tire pressures do you prefer for a 235/70R16 tire (tubeless)fitted with 6.5J wheel rim for a) Highway use b)Offroading -under laden and unladen conditions

You are getting down to some very fine distinctions which most of us do not worry too much about. But air pressure is something you need to experiment with. There are other variables to consider, such as how rigid is your tyre's side wall. A fine set of tyres like Michelins, for example, act differently with just the addition/subtraction of 5lbs pressure. Laden-unladen? There is no pat answer to that. A lot depends on surface, too.

Some kind of on board air can come in handy. There is at least one thread on that somewhere.

& it will bw a 7 seat configuraton for Indian version?

May be they knows better....

DKG : In a rear wheel drive car it seems to make sense to have a wider front track for steering stability.

Same way in a front wheel drive car it may make sense to have a wider rear track, so the rear tracks more efficiently
@DKG, I have a RWD (Sumo) and a FWD (Ikon). Both have a wider front track.

Among Boleros, no model comes with an ABS option, and i believe Thar is based on Bolero platform, so how is it possible to mount a wheel speed sensor on axles which do not have this option?

Ok guys, time to be a bit jealous :-)

The THAR will be displayed at the annual Bangalore Offroad event on the 24th of this month.

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/4x4-ex...ml#post1687805

That means ONLY the folks participating in this event get to see it :-)

I am sure you guys will make them show the real skills of Thar by making it participate rather than just display.

We have Team-BHP to view the pics, so not so jealous. Please use a HD camera & post some High-Res pics. Including interiors & Underbody.

Hi,

Here is E-Brochure from MahindraThar website. Seating capacity is mentioned as 1+1, so it should be for Export model. In that case, there is no mention of LSD etc. Also the axle ratio is mentioned as 4.3:1 (550 XDB has 4.88:1), so are they DANA 44?

So will it be same for India as well , but with lots of options from Mahindra-Customization dept. (Will it be a bit costly?)

there is no mention of ABS on the Thar website and in its brochure!

even Mr. Thar himself never talked about ABS!

and why hell you need an ABS for a mud slugger and mud plunger?
