ICE upgrade : Maruti Alto

I am looking for an audio system for the Alto LXi I am going to buy. To put it short and sweet - I want decent sound for my personal pleasure, but I don't need to pull into a car lot and start a dance party. I listen to a lot of different kind of stuff, but let's just say it should be able to handle heavy metal as well as electronic and rap.

I would ideally like to spend Rs. 10,000 (total on HU, speakers etc.) but can stretch it to Rs. 12,000.

I would want a CD system that plays mp3s, but most importantly I need something that has an Aux Jack so that I can plug-in my mp3 player (creative, not apple ipod). (and if I can use the system as a hands-free over bluetooth, that would be a sweet plus, but it's not essential). - for instance, the Blaupunkt Kingston MP47 looks perfect but the site doesn't give the price. (Also, how much would the 'optional interface' for the bluetooth hands-free cost?)

I know nothing about the technicalities, so really I'll go by your recommendations and the price, and would love to get some feedback from the 'gurus' here.

Within a budget of 12k, I would buy a 4K HU, 5k Front speakers (Components preferably) and 3k Rear speakers (6X9" Co-axials).

My choice would be:
4k HU: Pioneer 4950.
5K Front speakers: JBL GTO 507
3K Rear speakers: JBL GTO 937 (grey) or JBL CS 3196 (B&W).

We are known to always stretch the given budgets and always cross it. Yes, this should've crossed too.

Speakers ---> JBL 937 == 3500 without B/w.

Head unit ---> See http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/produc...ead-units.html

Hope it helps

Get a pioneer head unit for 4-5k.
Front - Jbl Compos
Rear - Jbl 6x9

and you will cross your budget.

mugen is right jbl does'nt come cheap...
try going for the pioneer or blaupunkt....
as you have alto i will suggest you to do a good damping if you want to install compos otherwise you will hear the doorknocking rather then the deep bass!!cheers:

I hope it's not a stupid question - but what is b&w?

Is Blaupunkt out of my range?

Is there any site where I can check out the prices? because the manufacturer sites don't specify...

b&w = Bill and Warranty

Yes Blau looks out of yer budget if you going to buy decent speakers too as it has USB etc etc stuff.

Well except Sony none of the manufacturers have any prices specifies.

You can also check this HU. Welcome to JVC India.. Though Pio 2950 is VFM.

Dont know the price but it will be around 4k.

Speakers get rear Jbl 6x9 937 see if u can get some other components from Pioneer which are in your budget.

BTW everyone suggested he buy the JBL compos where is he gonna fit em ?? any idea. The speakers in dash are 3" i guess.

P.S. WOW i am giving advice in the ICE section dont kik me

Yup...Blaupunkt will seriously dent your budget. Look for a Pioneer instead. As Abhi says, "where do the front comps go"? Make sure that the person doing the installation is really good, otherwise you're gonna hear a lot of "remixed" music including door panel and parcel tray rattles...so figure in some cash for damping. Also, you might get charged for cables, installation etc. That will be extra.

I think this looks OK for an Alto...but try Pio 3 way 80W RMS speakers for rear (listen and buy!)
