Wakad Dehu Vadgaon Old Highway Sunday ride!

Good ride with my buddy till Dehu. Solo from there,he returning to Poona via the old highway. Picked up a nail on the return near Dehu. Stupidly thought something wrong in my rear hub, after stopping twice and checking both wheels for the sudden chik chik chik sound, and finding nothing, instead of looking closer at the tyre! Rode from Dehu till Harris Bridge super conservatively with the sound mindmessing (thanks for the stars!) me. And then at Harris Bridge, after nearly 20 km, I finally realise I got a rear flat. Moral of the story - Check for the obvious first! Sexy ride nonetheless. Legs coming back.

Cheers, Doc

Re: Post pictures of your Bicycle on day trips here!

We had a Fool's Spring day yesterday with the Sun shining and temps hitting more than 50F, in February! For context, we are expecting 3 to 4 inches of snow in two days. So, I couldn't miss this opportunity to go for a ride around the neighborhood. I call this ride Tour de Windham because it covered most of the climbs around the town.

Thanks, Doc. My lower back is still not where it was before the accident. But compared to same time last year I am 4kg lighter, so that is helping a bit.

Re: Post pictures of your Bicycle on day trips here!

After a disastrous 2023 (Rode just 100 miles) vs. 1000 miles in 6-months in 2022.

I decided to change that in 2024 and picked the first good day in 2024 (Which was yesterday when the sun was shining gloriously and weather was still cold at 2 centigrade).

Basically, this was the first ride after almost 6-months.

My target is to do 2000 miles in 2024.

Yup, the leanness is clearly visible on your face. Keep pegging away. Am doing the same after nearly a 6 month break.

Re: Post pictures of your Bicycle on day trips here!

We also have false spring going on for a streak of days. It's weird. February usually gets lot of snow here. Not this year. I did my usual ride the other day and wore only a jersey and thin jacket by the time I came home I was sweating like it was July. Google photos showed some memories from past few years and every week this time of the year had snow. Kinda sad.

Thanks bro. P.S. I honestly had to check who AutoIndian was before I discovered it was you! LOL

I am doing Bhakti Shakti regularly nowadays, which is 22 km from my home, so maybe we could ride towards each other, rendezvous someplace pre-decided, then ride to Bhakti Shakti and back to where you turn off, with a chai somewhere. How does that sound?

I do not know where exactly you would be coming from, in order to coordinate both distances for both riders, but meeting at Harris Bridge right at the start would be the most bang for buck option, giving us the maximum possible shared distance together. We could even ride on to Dehu turn/Ghoradeshwar Mandir hill and come back.

You are essentially a runner. I am a cyclist. The twain as such has always met in flyby's on the road up until now.

Cheers, Doc

Sounds good. Just let this week go by as I am participating in Tata Ultra Marathon (50K) this weekend (Saturday night). We can catch up on Monday, 26th Feb if you are going to ride the same route, what say?

Sure. That's a huge run and you have been training hard for it. All the best!!!

I will coordinate with you for the Bhakti Shakti (or beyond) ride next week the day earlier.

Currently life is hugely screwed for us Camp citizens. In a double whammy, they have closed off University Road up till Bremen Chowk, and to add insult to injury, they plan to bring down the Blue Diamond bridge, so traffic snarks there too as all traffic is diverted on to Bund Garden and Mangaldas (TMTC) roads. All one way traffic. And it takes ages to move if you are unlucky enough to get caught in it ... as I was today after a morning haircut.

I sure hope this Metro is going to be worth it and used well in the end.

Cheers, Doc

Weather took a turn for the wet out of the blue literally.

Got out if my door at 6 and felt fine drops on my arms. Looked up at the sky. And convinced myself it was probably the overhead tank overful. Lol

Soon it was clear it was going to be a wet ride. Kept hoping it would blow over. But as these things usually go, it actually started getting wetter. But typical fine mist Poona piddle as we lovingly call it. Doesn't drench you. And you feel you are in a hill station.

Anyways, with a freshly waxed chain, I realized this was God having some fun. So once when you and your bike are nice and wet and fully mucky, and your phone is safe inside a plastic, riding in the rain then truly rocks.

Cheers, Doc
