From the decoding on the front pages of this thread ( 4th Digit is for month K = oct & 10 th Digit for Year C = 12 ?) ,there seems some thing is wrong.

From the Manual decoding its October 2011 make vehicle. The 10th Character representing as Model Year and not production year.

Our fellow TeamBHP member pillainp asked about this earlier and i have done a recheck with all the previous VIN available here and made an interesting discovery.

The 5th and 6th combined character in 2010 produced cars was 10 , for 2011 produced cars its was 11 and now 2012 cars its 12. It made me believe that the production year code is of 5th and 6th combined characters.

We are soon making the changes to the opening for the benefit of all.

Thanks Wildon for the complete doc.Yes,the combination of 5 th & 6 th characters makes the production Year.
Even for manufacturing month i see inconsistency,with one to one mapping from the front page for the 4 th character ,it has to be October "K",But it appears now from the pdf it is November.
we missed the alphabet "I" in the months decoding sequense ,may be that could be the reason.

The Month code in VIN/Chassis and actual production date varies sometimes. The letters I (i), O (o) and Q (q) does not used in the VIN to avoid confusion with numerals 1 and 0.

Also please do check in your RC book when you get it as it would be mentioned as October 2011 manufactured.

Planning to buy a Vista Quadrajet.
The vin no is MAT611436CPB11826
As per the decoding guide the 10th letter is C and 12th is B .
That makes it February 2012 model. Just wanted to check if i have decoded the VIN correctly and this is one month old manufactured car.

Any inputs would be highly appreciated. I am going for a PDI today and will update post that.
