Team-BHP - ARTICLE: Find your car's date of manufacture (VIN)

Hi wildon,

Need some help here: have booked a BMW x1 CE and just got the vin number. Vin decoder says manufacturing date as November 2011, while dealer says its dec 2012 !!

I'm not sure what is right and I'm completely in a state of panic as temporary registration is tomorrow morning, so after which I cannot change anything.

Please advise, and thanks so much in advance! please:

As Skoda assembles the car in india, does the manufacturing date is the assembled Date in india ?

This is for sure an 'old' vehicle (i.e manufactured in the month of May 2012) .

If you do a search in this particular thread with the keyword 'LAURA' you can see other VIN serial numbers which is newer than your vehicle. (ie. CA151941 or above) which already delivered to the customers.

I cannot confirm whether its used or it was lying at the factory or at the dealers place.

Hi Wildon, can you please decode MAJ1XXMRJ1CY44405. As per my decoding from the first page, it is Oct 2012 manufactured vehicle. Just wanted to check, if I have decoded it right.

Hi,

I've just been given the VIN of the Endeavour I intend to purchase - MAJUXXMR2UCD02752.
Per this thread, that works out to July 2012 manufacture. The dealer tells me that is the 'segmentation' date and the 'invoice' date is 12th Sep.
Is he trying to take me for a ride?
Early answers would be greately appreciated - I intend to conduct the PDI tomorrow. Also, if there is an enthusiast who would like to accompany me for the PDI (Delhi-Riddhi Ford), I would be very grateful.
