Can someone help decode VIN for Hyundai i20 - MALBB51DLEM669773. From the 10th Char I can make out that it's manufactured in 2014, now how to determine the month of manufacture ?

I'm not able to pull up the details for MALBB51DLEM669773. The reply is "VIN does not exist" - are you sure if it's the correct VIN?

I tried by changing one character - B instead of D, and it works.

Is your VIN actually MALBB51BLEM669773?

Many Thanks RSR. You got the VIN no. Bang-on. In my anxiety I forgot to crosscheck the VIN no. & yes it is an i20 Asta (1.2 P) - Bronze. I actually followed your earlier post & registered myself @ https://service.hyundai-motor.com:444/euro5/login.tiles & I was able to get my vehicle details from there. I was able to co-relate the VIN no (MALBB51BLEM669773) with the engine no. (G4LAEM300031) which I got earlier. Planning to go for a PDI at the stockyard sometime next week time permitting.

Thanks again for your help, this is indeed what makes TEAM-BHP so special - Learning & Sharing of experiences.

Cheers.
Kaustav.

Hi Guys

I just did the PDI of my Punto. The VIN number is as follows. As per the posts on this forum I think the manufacturing is of Feb 2014. Let me know if my decoding is incorrect or if any additional information can be decoded from this number.

VIN:
MCA11855E07053603 BJZ

I need help to decode four VINs for Hyundai cars please. The instructions say that the 19th character has the month of manufacture, but the VIN does not have 19 characters! Here are the VINS:

MALBB51RLEM668813
MALBB51RLEM668814
MALBB51RLEM666221
MALBB51RLEM671897

All of them are Hyundai i20 Diesel Asta cars, and I see (from the letter E in position 10) that these are all 2014 cars. I am trying to identify the months of manufacture for each of these.

Thanks and cheers

Double-posting because I am unable to edit my post (more than 30 minutes old).

@RSR - I registered at the Hyundai Service site you posted, but I keep getting errors when I ask for detailed info on the VIN numbers I posted. It only gicves me basic info that still does not give me month of manufacture.

Am I doing something wrong?

Cheers

Please help in decoding the following VIN number:

I believe you are doing it from the main page, which may not work.

Do try the section called Parts Catalog - it's available on the main page as one of the tabs at the left. When you click on the link, it opens a new tab in your browser where you can get all the details.

The 19-character chassis number is stamped on the metal below the driver's seat - it's the 17-character VIN, followed by *, followed by a letter denoting the month of manufacture.

Here are colours & manufacture dates of the cars whose VINs you have provided (all of them are i20 CRDi 6-speed Asta variants):

MALBB51RLEM668813 - Coral White; April 29, 2014

MALBB51RLEM668814 - Coral White; April 29, 2014

MALBB51RLEM666221 - Sleek Silver; April 19, 2014

MALBB51RLEM671897 - Ember Grey; May 12, 2014

Cheers!

Not sure if already asked and in all probability a stupid question, but do bikes also have VIN numbers ? If so, do we have a similar thread to decode them ?
