I've been using the Botslab G980H pro and it's super capacitor based and has been holding up well in the sweltering Chennai heat. Recording quality is good, front is 4k, rear is 2k. App is okay and usable. Better to get a type C USB card reader rather than relying on the app as it's slow to transfer big files.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

I also saw that Redtiger has lauched a new model F7N Elite (4K front + 1080p rear) with Starvis 2 and super capacitor. It comes with 128GB built in memory also. Getting a deal for 16k for 4 numbers without hard wire kit and CPL filter.

Any reviews/recommendations for this newly launched model? I saw couple of other reviews from BHPians on F7NP and F77 and see redtiger seems pretty reliable and app is decent enough to use.

F7N Elite fills an imp segment (Starvis2+SuperCapacitor) which was so far lead by Viofo A229 Plus but costs approx 27k after incl card cost. You can find F7N Elite reviews on youtube from gizmobeep (I am not associated with it, somebody in this thread suggested this channel).

Only problem is rear cam to be fitted outside the car. Above channel shows how to fit inside but also mention that video quality significantly compromised from inside as rear cam is designed to work outside. I was about to order as looking for Starvis2 with super capacitor, but stopped after seeing rear cam quality from inside. But also note that redtiger as brand is reputed (many users in this thread), offer free hardwire kit, free 128gb card, 2 yr company warranty and 3rd yr warranty can be purchased seperately. Take your decision accordingly.

Are you getting free hardwire kit in 16k?

Thanks a lot for the detailed information, i didn't know that rear camera needed to be fitted outside.

This 16k is without hard wire kit, i reached out to them asking that i don't need the free hardwire kit and would like some deal instead.

Also, I see it comes with its own charger to be plugged to the 12V socket. This means the existing one I have would be useless.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Qubo also launched a Starvis 2 based 3K dual channel dashcam. But I have heard mixed kind of opinion about the performance of their past camera models and reliability of their mobile app is also questionable.

The only thing that is stopping me from going with Qubo is their app and all the negative reviews it has.

Does someone know if it has improved from before or any signs of it getting better ?

Please avoid Qubo at any cost, they have lots of issues, continuous restart etc.
The app experience is also very bad. Add to that the customer service is pathetic, they will frustrate you till you give up on getting a fix. Go for 70mai,DDPAI, red tiger etc.

Try to avoid Qubo, I have read only bad reviews about their dashcams. Even after launching Starvis2+SuperCapacitor at the low price of 12k, nobody is recommending it. I saw its unboxing review on youtube, the user showed a brand new piece unboxed and it's not working, then he raised a complaint with Qubo and they are providing a replacement
Better to go with a reliable brand (like Viofo, 70mai, DDpai, RedTiger) as a dashcam should be in recording state if you meet any unexpected incident

Will strongly advise against Qubo. Their app is very buggy; almost impossible to connect to and download videos. Also, their dashcams shut down even in February in Bangalore; imagine what would happen in the northern plains in April-May-June. If an accident happened when the dashcam was sleeping, it defeats the very purpose of getting a dashcam. I am thinking of throwing the Qubo away (it's really useless because I live in a very-hot-summer area).

I have a 6-year old 70mai Dashcam lite, which I have used it in 2 different cars (going to install it on another one). The dashcam is reliable and never had issues. I left my car parked outside in 40+ degree climate as well. While the dashcam heated quite a bit, the dashcam never shutdown on me. The battery lasted for around 4 years before giving up. The Li-ion battery no longer holds charge for more than a couple of minutes and I get a message asking me to connect to the car charger as soon as I turn off the vehicle. I will get a replacement battery soon.

I recently replaced it with 70mai A510 since I could not find a replacement with Starvis 2 + super capacitor in my budget. I ruled out Qubo since it was unreliable and Redtiger F7N elite since the rear cam had to be installed externally.

Does the A510 have super capacitor? I couldn’t see it mentioned anywhere on the website

A510 is battery based. I’m also confused, I recently got A510 for my Roxx and now looking for another camera for 700 but confused between A510, Qubo Pro 3K starvis 2 or Redtiger F7N elite. There’s always an itch to try something new but don’t want to end up with an unreliable product.

A510 has a Li-ion battery. Almost all 70mai dashcams are Li-ion battery based. Qubo (the old dashcams were battery based if I remember correctly) and Redtiger have a super capacitor. Given that Redtiger has some pretty good reviews, I considered getting the F7N Elite but was not comfortable with the external rear dash cam. The only other option I had was to get the F77, but later dropped the idea since I thought I could utilize the 10K difference to get better tyres instead (my vehicle is due for a change).

Indian summers warrants relatability ,take the bite and get a Viofo A229 Plus,a bit expensive but Dashcam is like an insurance ,it should be available when needed.
