Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Will Viofo India honour the warranty claim in India if Viofo dashcam was purchased from US? Has anybody tried it? If this works, I am planning to get from there

I was thinking of getting the 70mai 510 for my Kushaq. But in the footages of the reviews, I saw that the speed of the vehicle is also present in the footage as a watermark. I am slightly wary of this as this can be sometimes used against the owner also, say you are doing a 60 in a 40km/h road, which is fairly possible considering the lack of speed limit indicators and consistency.

Can this GPS-based speed be disabled? Otherwise I am thinking of getting a cheaper one like a400 that doesn’t have GPS.
Yes its all configurable via software atleast for VIOFO....

This is the reply I got when I asked a general query about the warranty for Dashcam. Even I was tempted to get the A229 pro dual channel from US as I was getting it in the same price that I got the A229 plus dual channel from India.

You can directly ask your query on the WhatsApp number they have on website and post the response here for benefit of others.

You can use MiniTool parition wizard to erase an re-partition the disk completely, it should take less than 15 minutes to get the software (free version), installed and do this.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Guys! I am looking for a 3 in 1 kind of dashcam for my seltos, which is primarily used by my kids to travel to school with a driver.

Hence the need for an interior facing camera as well.

Any pointers on which one to buy?

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Does anyone use the product: Dongar Pro for installing dashcam by tapping the power from auto dimming IRVM? Kindly comment on compatibility with Toyota Innova Hycross.

Guys, I had a harrowing experience with the Qubo dashcam. We purchased a Seltos GTX in September 2024 and subsequently bought a Qubo Dashcam 3K (dual camera setup) for ₹9,000 during the Amazon September sale. However, within one month, it stopped working and rebooted itself every 10-12 minutes. I had to delete it from the app and register it again each time.

I have been in touch with the Qubo support team since November. However, every time they tell me to reformat the memory card, change cables, power adapter, and whatnot.

I kept doing it since I don’t have much time left from work, and it kept working for 10-12 minutes each month (after every registration in the app).

But now, for the last month, it has stopped working altogether. I raised complaints on the chat again, and after a lot of follow-ups, a technician visited. He accepted that the dashcam is not working and said it would be replaced, but then there was dead silence. No one bothered to connect with me again.

After several follow-ups, they keep asking for 48 hours, with no idea for what. I am sure they are waiting to stretch it till September 2025 and then tell me its warranty has expired.

Short story - please refrain from buying cheap Chinese knockoff cameras from Qubo.
I am facing the exact same issue with Qubo Dashcam 3K (dual camera setup). Customer care is absolutely useless they have been dragging the issue from last 2 months with no resolution in sight. Thinking of changing to 70mai or something, their third party service guy who came home suggested the same. He said Qubo dash cams have lots of issues and they don't fix/replace/refund they just keep delaying. 70mai and others get issues very rarely apparently.

Suggest everyone to avoid Qubo at any cost.

Update: Got the Pioneer model for Rs. 2980 from Amazon. I'm yet to install and test it but the compact form factor is great. The entire camera module measures 1.5 inch in width and doesn't protrude even a tiny bit from the mount!

Qubo as a brand can survive only because of our substandard consumer protection laws , pathetic service quality and life of product at least in CCTV monitoring and Dashcam segment.

I'm using a 3 channel dashcam from WolfBox. The model is iO7. I think a newer version has come... iO8 I guess. You can get in touch with the dealer Anand from Delhi +919718823283.

Please let me know your feedback once you install it. Lots of negative reviews on Amazon for this.

Just out of curiosity I went and checked and was pleased to see that it is a Capacitor based model. I would have taken it for a battery based DashCam considering the affordable price. My vehicles are on the age old Viofo A119 purchased in 2017 when good old Aliexpress was available. The only missing feature on them is a phone app for immediate viewing/showing to Traffic Police.

Any clarity on the type of connection it uses on the device end? ( Mini-usb/Micro-usb/USB-C).
The 3 inch model with a screen seems to have a micro-usb as in the picture.

Using it since Jan'25 in Jimny. No issues. Small form factor sits discreetly behind the IRVM. Got a firmware update just after installation (it is 1.0.3). G-Sensor appears to be extra sensitive even at the lowest setting. It starts recording emergency video too often. Probably because Jimny is tall and has pronounced rolling/pitching and Pune roads where I live are full of craters. I have it turned off for city use. With 128GB card, I think it has over a month long video storage capacity so emergency recording won't be overwritten in a jiffy. I keep checking storage once in a while. I did find it overheating a tad more than my previous dashcam, most probably because of higher compression video encoder on the chip. Nothing alarming though. Overall, I find it value for money which gets the job done .

Btw, glanced over few recent Amazon reviews. Many of these to me appeared fake (not verified purchase) or users don't know how to install/use it.

The basic one I have has USB-C. Probably you can download the specification PDF and check or ask the customer support. Micro usb is highly unlikely on a device made/sold now.

Edit: Ah, it shows "Ch" near the port in the picture, means, you can add additional camera (channel) here and synchronize recording. It is not the charging port.
