Thanks so much for your detailed response Raju. Any idea what model of Pioneer HU I can expect to buy for approx 6500? I am looking for one with USB compatibility. Also pointers on the amount to be budgeted for RCA interconnects and amp power kit would be really appreciated.

Bangalore guys, any suggestions regarding a reliable dealer in Bangalore from whom I can source the Pio HU and JBL amp (60.4) / speakers (608C and 637/8) at a reasonable price. I am planning to source the hardware from Bangalore and getting it installed in Mangalore.

You Can get the Pioneer 3050 at about 6K
I would reccomend dont go in for the 608c try and increase your budget a bit and go for the EL 6.1,Youll love them.
You cn get the scosche 8ga amp kit at about 2.5k and interconnects @700.

I've booked a Swift Zxi today and the sales guy tells me that the HU cannot be removed since its integrated with the steering.. Guess the make is Kenwood. Never heard since no showrooms have Zxis on display :(

But I am looking at disposing off for a better 2-din one. Any idea how much I can expect for the same ?

Can anyone please help me here. I have the option of getting a 2-din HU from the US. If only this Zxi OEM one can be easily removed.

Also how about the stock speakers on the Zxi ? Do they need an upgrade. I dont plan to buy a Sub since I need boot space.

Bass Tube Cone Fallen Off!!

Hi Guys,

I have a very wierd problem. I am using the Infinity 12" Ref 1200T Bass Tube in my Swift and i all of a sudden found an 80% drop in bass and punch. I inspected the connections to the tube and the tube itself and noticed throught he mesh grill that the cone had fallen inwards. The cone is not torn or damaged in any way and the tube still gives bass but i do not understand how this has happened. I will be having the tube inspected by an expert to know if it can be repaired of do i have to buy a new one. What do you guys think?

1. take this up with your installer.
2. if your installer is not cooperative PM Sam Kapasi as his represents Infinity in India.

The swift has stock locations for 4 speakers (one in each door) in it's doors. These locations are quite good. If you find you need more bass think about adding a 12" or even 2 8-10" subs in the trunk.

Obviously your budget, taste in music, and use of system will determine which components and accessories you get.

Hi Navin,
I have a Zxi and I dont plan to replace the HU as of now. I'm looking at a 2-din from the US later this year. But I do plan to upgrade the stock speakers.

I'm the only one using this car, and most of the times, the only occupant too. My music taste is more into rock - Metallica, Maiden, Floyd, G&R etc. I dont really need the thump and dhing-jhing stuff. So no subs and amps.

I am more keen on comps for the front and co-ax for the rear. I have a budget of around 12-15k which includes damping/installation too. Any recommendations for the same boss ?

I'd reserve 6K for the damping and install and 9K for the speakers for which you can get a great set of 2 components and 2 coax from the likes of JBL, Blaupunkt , Illusion, Bull, etc.. JBL and Blaupunkt are available at a wide variety of dealers. For reviews on Illusion and Bull search this forum.

Before you choose the components howevr I'd suggest you find a GOOD installer. I'm begining to fear that while ICE install is NOT rocket science GOOD installers are not as common as I previously believed.

True. I've never heard any reviews on good installers in Chennai. Hence planning to travel to B'lore to Evo for the install.

9K would be with b/w ? How about the Alpine Type-R speakers ? Getting a great deal on Amazon currently. But US products would provide no international warranty I guess.

I have a somewhat similar taste but i also listen what sounds good to my ears even if its POP, HIP HOP, classical or instrumental music. I am not sure if i would go for amp and subs, but i want to keep those options open in case for future if i decide. As far as i know illusion should be good for such music from what i learnt from different forums. I have not yet figured out which HU would be best for this music taste. My requirement is USB, custom equilizer settings and yes i would try and make it a point to listen to ACD as they are the purest source for music as far as i know.

I am no expert but navin and other audio experts in this forum can guide us.

Hi guys,

Ive had the tube inspected and the subwoofer seemed to have displaced from its mounting. I found it very very wierd because firstly the casing for the tube is made of card board or some material similar to it. Secondly the subwoofer was'nt screwed in place but i believe was stuck instead. Ive been using this tube for almost 2 and a half years now and i guess in time it had become loose and fallen inside the tube. I am shocked with the quality of building this bass tube and that too from a reputed name like Infinity. Are all bass tubes made like this and with similar material?

Anyway, i was advised to scrap the tube and use the subwoofer in a box instead. Is this ok or is this subwoofer meant to be installed in a tube only? Also my tube was ported but my box is not. Will this make any difference in sound quality? Very frankly, i did'nt find any difference in the sound quality but we did have to make a few adjustments on the monoblock amp to get more punch as the setting usd on the tube did'nt seem to suit the same sub in a box. What does this mean? Ive also been told that a non-ported box gives more punch. Kindly advise on the same
