Yes sir! In fact as you would have already guessed, the Genesis Studio 16 set uses drivers from Theil, optimized for car audio, while the crossovers are designed and made in UK by Mr. Gordon Taylor of Genesis. And his Absolute series use the SS Revelator drivers, again with his crossovers.

Makes a lot of engineering sense.

How much does a pair cost? Since price is normally directly proportional to manufacturing tolerance and rarity of materials, one would expect this one to follow the "if you ask, you can't afford it" principle.

Has anyone heard it in action? Does it produce music or is the effect something like drinking distilled water? Like @santosh (where has he vanished?) had pointed out quite a while back, we are used to obvious 'distortions' in our perception of music reproduction. For example, though valve amplifiers produce more distortion than an equivalent power semiconductor version, I'd rather root for valve-amplified guitar than the tinnier 'true' sound of silicon-amplified ones.

It all depends on what type of music taste one has. I had a old 3055 Transistor based Amplifier. It was using a Pair for each channel I used to love its sound. Never had the experience of a tube amp. But having seeing them since childhood as my father to had a hobby of electronics like me.

I have played with the Magner driver quite extensively.

1. the driver is really only usable above 300Hz
2. It needs a rahter complex filter ad it has some anamolies in it's response.

coupled to Vifa PL or SS 8" woofers it does make good sound especially if you listen to western classical.

conclusion
not quite the holy grail - then again I am still searching. I wish it was more revlealing like the Visaton B200 but then I wish the Visaton had the dispersion of the Manger and I wish both the Viaston and Manger had the HF response of even the lesser SS/Seas tweeters.

Der Alte,

Good wide range drivers have limiations. What might be the best option is to use a wide range driver as a midrange using the ability of the wide range to operate over 6 octaves or so to escape using complex crossovers (active or passive).

One idea that is brewing in my head is:
sub 100Hz Bass driver using a SS amp perferably is dipole (to reduce boom)

wide range from 100-6K but with a smooth roll off in the HF and hence requiring only a 2nd order Passive Line Level (PLL) low pass filter and a UL tube amp

leaf or ribbon or eliptoical tweeter operating above 6K or so using 2nd order Low pass PLL and a triode tube amp

but we re now seriously OT and this topic would be better covered on another forum (audioasylum, diyaudio, etc)

Look nice! Are the specs on the 'net yet? The Bit One looks mysterious.

What is that in the dust cap location? Mounting arrangement for selectable phase plugs? Tweet mounting a la Chameleons?

Sirji, how much will these set one back by?
