Ok JayD guru, please please please give me a crash course in learning how to use my Pioneer HU. (I'm serious).

BTW now that I re-read the feature, it's a little ambiguous what the Kenwood guys mean by it. What I understood was that Kenwood remotes have letters attributed to the number buttons, like in most phones. e.g. the button "1" would be "abc" , "2" would be "def" etc. So if I want a track from Metallica, I can start typing out Metallica (as I would in writing a sms) and it would search and give me all folders and files with Metallica in their name.

Is this what they mean by it, or what JayD understands by it (i.e. the same thing as the "List" button in Pioneer)? I would think the latter would be better described as "Folder and File Name scrolling / browsing" and not "Folder and File Name Search." But what makes it ambiguous is the use of the word "Manual." Anyone have any gyan on this?

Veb on my friends kenwood player it works like this.

1. Press the Folder Scan Button
2. Scan for folder i.e. using forward backward button and when u get yer desired folder / file u wanna play press play.

The abc on remote if for Bluetooth function and for file searching on higher end kenwood players.

All kenwood players come with almost same remote.

I am not talking about "Scan play." I know what that is, and in this age where you have thousands of tracks on a single pendrive, it's IMHO a fairly useless function.

As for the abc and file searching goes, I quoted the feature of filenaming searching for the new KDC-BT7539U HU, which I suppose would count as a high-end Kenwood HU.

Tut tut veb you are getting confused. I said FOLDER SCAN/SEL not scan play. Scan play is totally different from folder scan / select.

Lets take an example:
Akon folder is playing right now and now u want to jump to T-Pain folder. Now all you gotta do it press the FOLD SCAN/ SEL button and press forward backward button and it will scroll through folders and will display the folders name as you press the forward backward button. And as soon as you find yer T-Pain folder just press the play button on the remote or HU and the songs from that folder will start playing.

While you are going through the whole FOLD search operation the current track which is playing will not stop.

Is this only allowed in the ice section ? I did it in another thread and ended up getting a warning from the mods.
"Do not use 202020 as a means of bypassing the character limit "

New Blau HUs

The following website mentions about new Blau HUs launching in 2008. Have heard some of them might hit in India by May 2008.

Blaupunkt CES 2008

I went to a kenwood authorised dealer(as mentioned in their web-site) to find out the details and prices. But that so-called dealer had no idea that kenwood are releasing 2008 series. What a dealer . I went to another shop where another 'knowledgeable" guy told me it will be 6 months by the time the 2008 series will be available in india. And both shops recommended some model that was not listed in the web-site at all .

Have you checked out the price and availability of the 2008 series??
