I also plan to run one of my subs with the JBL at 4 ohms to check whether there is drop in the bass level which is currently there due to the amp being low on power supply needed by the sub.

the problem is the budget. Else it would have been the jbl 24001. 2400 watt rms at 2 ohm powering both the subs

Abhinav you seems to have 2 options:

1. Another 14001
2. Sell 14001 and buy 24001 other any other amp

How much did ya pay for 14001 ?

750$ would mean 37500.
It would make it around 45-47 through KMD route. And if i assume my amp goes for around 15k, then i will still have to shell around 30 more.
If that was the budget, i would have chosen the GZ Amp.

and why not another 14001 ?

The Kenwood does not give 900 rms it is less than that.

I also suggested him the same. Go for another 14001 and wire them at 4 ohms to get better control and SPL both at the same time.

Here's one I came across, Alphasonik, may be it might interest you..by specs sounds good. Plenty of power. Can work on 2ohm 900x2 and 1ohm 1800x1.

You can also check for hifonics amps here's the link.

IMHO all Kenwood products get much more attention than they deserve on Team Bhp. This isn't to annoy any Kenwood fans here, but i feel they are average. Only some of their head units are decent.

but most of the amps are overrated and underrated, aren't they.

and this dosen't mean that if they are rated as 900 x 1 they will give 1200 or will give 500rms

how one can calculate the power, when you buy some product first thing you see is the specs & features of the product.

On the other hand Alpine Amplifier's are underrated. They are always way to powerful at even half gain. I got the Alpine MRP F550 and a 2 channel Kenwood amp too, both am currently using and after playing around with them at different output certainly feel they do lack power under bridgemode while driving the Sub.

My personal Favourite is JL Audio amps but definately prefer picking them up from US than get robbed here at double the price they are sold. Nice powerful and clean sound. Complete VFM if one get it from US.
