This is what noidaboy had mentioned on another thread.

P.S. why in the 700.1 i see 175*2 and 325*2, is that a typo?

May I jump in?

For Class A, B, and AB amps the efficeincy is determined by the quiescent current (also called bias) flowing through it's transisitors.

Class A amps that are the least efficeint in translating input power (from the power supply) into output power (at the speaker) have an efficieincy of about 50% (a little less in reality)

Class AB amp are about 65% and Class B amps are as high as 75% (theoretical limit is about 78%). Class D amps however do not use the same technology as Class A, AB, B. Class D amps use a switching supply which operates a very high frequency and hence can achieve efficiencies greater than 90% (theoretical limit is 100%).

but this is just the basics. there are other factors (heat sink size / fan cooling, number of stages, and atleast for tube amps the topology long-tailed-pair vs SRPP for example) that can determine the overall efficiency of the amp. Without a rigourous study of the amplifier's schematics and test bech results I would not hazzard a guess leave alone debate an amplifer's exact efficiency. Then again I am NO Guru.

I aint getting it.
was 700.2 the typo or the power rating at 2 ohms

If the typo was 700.2 , then how come 650 x 1 @ 1 ohms
and if it was the power rating type then how come 325 x 2 @ 2 ohms

I'm totally confused.

P.S. Whats the price of the 700.1 (/2)

that must mean 650x1 @ 4 ohms. Few amps can drive 1 ohm in bridged mode.

Update : Checked the amp by wiring the sub at 4 ohms.

The problem earlier was that my subs need 1000w each ( = 2000wrms) while JBL gives 1500w rms at 2 ohms.
So the subs were underpowered.
Due to this, at high volumes, the amp used to reduce the volume / bass at higher volumes.

Now after getting it checked, JBL gives 1200w rms at 4 ohms(14.4v) to the subs which needs 1000w rms. There is no lowering of volume / bass at full volume too.

Thanks for the suggestion guys, i will buy another JBL 14001.
