U can also have a look at JBL's SQ cousin i.e. Infinty.

And i would STRONGLY ADVISE u to not to look beyond alpine HU and amplifier.
1. 9847 for 11K with B&W?
2. ID sub for 8K with box?
3. Infinity is definitely more refined than JBL. JBL is a rocker's speaker, Infinity can rock too but has finesse as well. In fact I have heard some Infinity models that can rock with the best of them like the SM150. If you are considering Infinity I would also consider Alpine's Type R.

Sam, does Infinity sell EMIT/EMIM based driver in India. I have not come across any.

Navin,
I havent heard Infinity as yet. will do that before I finalize the install.

since I have no idea about amps, can anyone suggest me a good 4 channel amp(make and model number) in the range of 10K-15K?

In the meanwhile I shall search through this forum for amps.

you sound so excited.

Sorry, No EMIM and EMIT only on the 6X9. I guess not too many Navin's around to appreciate EMIT components.

Visit othe car audio forums and you will find a large number of Alpine-Infinity systems. JBL has a dynamic immediacy to their sound. Every studio I have worked in (in NYC) had a pair of JBL/UREI monitors never mind if their main room was equipped with other brands.

When I was younger I had a pair of JBL 18" pro woofers mated to JBL 8" midbass and JBL Horn mid and tweeter. All powered by 4 200W/ch stereo Adcom amps (GFA 555). That system could rock. I mean it could part your hair. Everything including Jazz and Classical Orchestra sounded so alive.

Then as I grew older the JBLs were replaced by Dynaudio, Focal, Vifa, Morel and ScanSpeak. It is not that these products sound better than JBL it is just that they sound a bit more refined. The system does not aound as alive anymore but it is able to resolve a bit more.

Vivek this side east of the Heil AMTs these devices produce great sound but require complex XOs. So far I have stayed away from AMTs and EMIT and EMIMs for this reason. Some years back I tried to build a 36" high x 12" wide wide range electrostatic panel using NdFeB magnets and mylar etched with copper. It was a disaster. The sound was coloured but was dynamic. I finally dumped them in favour of a pair of Maggie SMGa mounted on a 12" Velodyne.

Everyone once in a while I get the urge to develop a electrostatic panel. Maybe B&T with his PI connections can help.

My dream...TL 8" or 10" woofer mated to SEMIM (large EMIM) at 200-250Hz mated to EMIT at 4000-5000Hz in car. The SEMIM/EMIT panel can double as the rear deck (sutiably protected).

Older Infinities used to have EMIT tweeters and midranges. I still remember one of my friend, used have tall infinity speakers, dont remember the model with 2 X 12" Bass Drivers, Dome Midrange and EMIT Tweeters front and back. He later on sold them and bought Tannoy Definition D900 with Supetweeter.
