Hey e_l,

You will need to get an MDF ring of about 1.5" thickness. Screw that into the door panel. It can be done if you have a decent installer.

Kureti,

1) See his name
2) You suggested to him a 4" speaker and thats why we're having this discussion.

I beg to differ coz the Kicker EX 4.2 (4 inch components) are very much available with Bill and Warranty. I got mine for 5k around 6 months back for my Esteem and they compliment my JBL GTO 936's perfectly. I have installed the Alpine 240 amp to power the fronts and rears and i am just loving it.

Just missing a Sub and a mono now But it will come in sooner rather than later.

So its gonna be JBL GTO 1200B + JBL GTO 301.1 up next within a couple of months(hopefully)

What speakers and sub?

Well I have a pretty different set of requirements here.

I listen to a wide variety of music. Sometime I listen to Pink Floyd and at times Bryan Adams, sometimes its filmi music while at times its Yanni and Enigma. Many a times I find myself listening to Illayaraja's tunes - Its mostly vocal with some amazing instrumentals.

I have a pioneer 78xx HU, 1 sony 444 amp and 1 set of xplod speakers up front, 1 blau 10" bass tube. All bought 5 years back before I knew Sam, Navin and the rest of team-bhp. And another Blau baby amp from my Uno which is pretty old but sounds good to me.

I want the same setup - HU, front speakers and Sub. I dont want a rear fill at this point of time. I would rather spend the money on a better set of front speakers.

Right now I am planning to upgrade the front speakers alone. I want something that will play whatever I throw at it. I am not looking for audiophile quality here. (Did I tell you I am partially deaf ) So just some "jack of all trades" would suffice.

After a month or two, I am planning to replace the bass tube with some other sub that plays tight bass. I am not in for the bass tube's kinda bass. Its too boomy for my tastes.

So what I have planned is like this

Pio or Alpine HU
sony 444 amp bridged and driving front components or coaxials
blau mpa 2 bridged ( i think its 80*2 dont know about this ohms thingy) to run a sub

Budget for front speakers 7k

So what speakers do you think would suit me?

Phew! That was loooong. Hope I didnt get things confused in between.

Harrie, with your budget with a 1k extra, you can easily for a Infinity compos. Nothing like Infinity.

Can you give me some more details about this? What is the model number and size?

Will it be sacrilege if I drive the Infinity components with the 444? I'll maybe change the amp in a few month's time if I am not too happy with it. But then again I dont have that sharp an ear. Growing up in the midst of machineries has taken its toll.

Its a 6 and half inch rounds compo, find the speaker details on the link
http://www.fxaudio.com/caraudio/infi...-ref6010cs.htm

For now you may drive the speakers with the 444, look at a better amp later, an Alpine 240 should do the trick.
