Frankie, not in this lifetime will I ever be able compete with you or LBM. Here BTW is another "Sally" song.

and Frankie said "I can't find nothing wrong with being friends or sticking her in my car"
and She said "if you can't find nothing wrong with your head you'd better find something wrong with her"
So Frank began to explain ahh... that it wasn't just ahh.. what she thought
He'd better find something to do with his time, the fact is he's just been caught

Sneaking 'Sally' through the alley, sneaking 'Sally' through the alley
Trying to get away clean
Sneaking 'Sally' through the alley, when up pops the queen!!!

- with apologies to Robert Palmer (Sneaking Sally though the Alley).
I just read the first few lines after which my head started spinning and hit the ground.

HAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHHAAHHAA.
Now Lucky in quotes can mean two things:
1. Lucky as in really lucky
2. AND LUCKY AS IN THE DASHING SARDAR FROM DEHRADUN WHO ROAMS AROUND WITH AN ORCHESTRA IN HIS CAR?!

re: Ford Fiesta S: Eclipse, XBL2 and NOW WITH HORNS!

Here's the first few changes I have made.

The DLS RA20 is OUT of the car now.
The Alpine SPX 17 Pros are OUT of the car now.

Boohoo for both.

And then the stuff coming in is sooooooooooooooo yummy. I might just forget these two ;-)

re: Ford Fiesta S: Eclipse, XBL2 and NOW WITH HORNS!

IT's not everyday that one chooses to buy good amplification for speakers.
AMplifiers of this caliber are an investment and not an expense.
IF you take good care of them, they can serve you till you get old.

Presenting to you, the MONSTER for the midbasses.

And then, the NOT SO DOCILE fella for the front highs

The amps were purchased last night.

re: Ford Fiesta S: Eclipse, XBL2 and NOW WITH HORNS!

frank, correct me if am wrong but these look like the DLS Ultimate Series amps.

I am not sure why you'd sell off the RA20 to buy another similar amp for the midbasses. You could have easily added one amp for the tweeters.

Any specific reasons why you jumped from the Ref line to the Ultimate line?

The Ultimate Series from DLS.
PERIOD.
There is not too much better amplification available for us commoners than this (at prices a sane gujju like me can afford)

The RA20 is a 130*2 amplifier with 2*25A fuses.
The A3 is a 150*2 amplifier with 4*30A fuses.
Just an idea of the power on tap. DLS is known to under-rate their amplifiers.

The RA20 is NOT one ohm stable, whereas the A3 can see 1 ohm loads without flinching an eyelid.

In this install, ANYTHING can happen (even though that is still not planned) hence a 1 ohm stable amp was preferred. Period.
The components that are going into the frontstage require ONLY the best.
And that's what I am going to give them.

Presenting to you the DLS Ultimate A3 Twin Mono for the Midbasses in the front doors.

Thank you Mi10. I hope all is well at your end. Looking forward to your new project.

The Midbasses are going to get unadulterated power from the DLS A3.

Wait till you guys hear about the 'highs' part of the install.

A lot of people are going to flip.

PS: KK, Don't reveal it like you do every time.

Here's an idea of why the RA20 would have NOT been enough for this mad install ;-)

re: Ford Fiesta S: Eclipse, XBL2 and NOW WITH HORNS!

Frank, if its the 1-ohm functionality that you seek, then the Ultimate Series amps make for a perfect buy!

But then again, I am confused. The only reason I would look for a 1-ohm stable amp is if I plan to bridge the channels and run a couple of subs. To be honest, I haven't heard of any 1-ohm mid-basses. I know of the ID CTX mid-basses which are 2-ohm but never heard of any 1-ohm mid-bass.

re: Ford Fiesta S: Eclipse, XBL2 and NOW WITH HORNS!

the resistance of speakers doesn't change. the load imposed by them on the amplifier varies. according to how they are wired.

the diagram i put up is just an indication of one of the things you can do with the ultimate and not the ra20.

by the way, i will be wiring the midbasses conventionally (getting 150 w each from either of the two channels.)
but wiring in mono is also an option if i ever wish to make the A3 do subwoofer duty (not too likely, but I could do with added flexibility)

re: Ford Fiesta S: Eclipse, XBL2 and NOW WITH HORNS!

Sounds like a plan. This has got to be a great install!
Each component getting its own dedicated power amp... delicious! the way it should be done!
