Dear All

Took a test drive of the Xenon 3L dicor 4X2 version yesterday from Arvind motors Bangalore.

Few quick thoughts :

1. The interiors are very shoddy , almost reminiscent of the first generation cars from Tata.
2. Feature wise it is decent , has power windows , adjustable steering , central locking etc.
3. The Back seat lacks proper padding and support.Contrary to what has been stated here i did not find the legroom that bad
4. The ride quality is good and cabin noise is well insulated.
5.The AC works well

Few differences which I noticed with XT are

1. It doesn't have the roof rails .Can this be fitted ?
2. It doesn't not have the silver/chrome under body protection on the front.

I am planning to buy the 4X2 version which costs around 8.1 on road in Bangalore. The car is BS3 , thus needs to be registered from Bangalore rural area.

Hi Revival,

Do keep updating with your purchase plan.. I am also thinking about buying the Xenon - still debating between the CC 4x4 or XT. Did you check the cost of the 4x4 also at Arvind, how much on-road?

And your thoughts and considerations on the 4x2 vs 4x4? What do you plan to use it for, daily commute or anything else?

Cheers!

Some more photos with ATC 17" Alloy Wheels. I haven't seen Xenon with such big wheels yet, most of the regular ones are with 15" and 16" versions.

Tire size is 265/65/R17 Bridgestone Dueler H/L :)

Thanks for this turbo diesel. Had a few questions about fitting in 265 tires with 17 inch rims: one - did you adjust the torsion bar in front to get a little body lift to accommodate the tires? Two - have you noticed increase in GC after installing this size of tires?
Thank you

Roof rails are available as accessory, but make sure its booked with the vehicle it self.

I inquired with the commercial vehicle dealer about the Tata Xenon range over phone after having posted an online query through their website. He gave info on the Tata Xenon Crew cab Luxury 4x4 (8.3 lac on road)and 4x2 (7.6 lac on road) alone. I found in their website another barebone variant tagged Tata Xenon Utility that was having PS but no AC. They have uploaded a seperate brouchure for the utility variant. I tried to get the ex showroom price of that variant from the dealer and he said he will look it up but hasn't done so for quite a while. I understand that there will be a slim margin on any base variant. But Im desperate to know the Ex Showroom price of the Utility variant. Somebody help me.

Hi,

I am looking at getting chrome steel wheels, 16" x 8.5 (-20 offset) to go with 255/65/R16 Yoko Geolander AT tyres. Do you think overall dia 29" will foul with the fenders?

Tata is planning to introduce an all new pick up truck in the 1.5 - 2 tonne range. The Ace (mini truck) and Super Ace will undergo a mid-life refresh too. A new generation of its pick up truck - Xenon will also be launched. The next generation Xenon will be based on an all new platform.

Yes, the front height was raised by 4 inches to accommodate the bigger wheels.

Can anyone offer any help with regards Registration in Aurangabad ( Maharashtra) The RTO says we cannot register it under a Private car registration. I am taking delivery tomorrow morning and directly heading to the RTO for registration

Gurus,

Please shed some light on Xenon vs Getaway. Which monster is better-off?

Does the Xenon 3.0 come in 4x4 or only 4x2?

Yes it comes with 4*4 and LSD as standard for both variants.

People in this forum have been repeatedly requesting Tata to bring replace Safari Storme with a Xenon look SUV, but didn't Tata bring in Sumo Grande with the looks of Xenon and Safari's 2.2 DiCOR engine? As far as I can remember, they failed miserably by doing that. Hardly anyone bought Sumo Grande and it had to be renamed as Movus to be sold to Cab market. Correct me if I am wrong.

Yes, but only the face.

I owned the Grande for three years. I loved it and still regret selling it. But, it wasn't an 'Sports' Utility Vehicle.

The body, the engine, the suspension, all were concentrated towards making it a comfortable, people mover.

At the same time, my dad had the Safari. I used to drive both the cars on and off.

The engine was the same, but the Grande was tuned towards lesser power (Grande 125ps , Safari 140ps) and better FE.

And I guess, it was the Grande's spacious but unattractive rear end, which didn't impress many.

Not that the current Storme's looks are bad (We bought one), the Xenon had great looks and the same look could have been taken forward to Safari too.

I am unable to find either the Xenon XT 2.2 4x4 or the Xenon 3.0 4x4 on Tata’s website. All I can find is a 4x2 Tata Xenon Yodha.

Can anyone link me to a Tata website selling the Xenon 4x4?
