Which one is better?

A full frame shot from my recent Ranthambore trip. Took a little processing to salvage the dark image (ISO 6400, 1/50s handheld balancing on a wobbling Gypsy seat, f/5.6, 480 mm).

Which one is better? The colour or the B&W? I like the B&W.

A really, really lucky sighting. A guide said it happens maybe once in 6 months. Was going out of the park, when we saw this young tiger relaxing on the forest wall, just beside the main road leading to the Ganesh temple. Before this, I was disappointed with Ranthambore, but this sighting made me decide to go back to the park again, someday.

1/50s ? That too from a moving Gypsy and in all the excitement of shooting your most favourite subject. Just amazing !

I would pick the first, only wish it rested on something natural instead of that concrete/wall.

Not a moving one, but a rocking one. In Ranthambore I has to share the vehicle with 5 others. All were moving and jostling. I couldn't have used a monpod or beanbag.

This was a stone wall running along the road.

Excitement doesn't affect the shooting
All the practice and self criticism and shooting analysis are to make sure that one can take the shots at the right moment.

I like the B&w more. It was an ISO 6400 shot, I am not sure that a full size print would look good enough in terms of noise and colour.

Unfortunately, whenever I see a tiger from a few feet away, the light is horrible. Lol.

You guys have climbed up the ladder so fast! Awesome snaps. And not to mention acquiring the best tools in the business! And here I am still using by old 550D and pondering what to get. I am torn between 7D MK-II and 70D (or 760D). With 7D I hope to learn action photography. But still I am not getting that perfect yes from myself, that enables me to go buy. The only point I am holding on is the sensor aspect.

Nice! Especially the leading lines to infinity. Good to see you back. I remember 4-5 years back Shaju and you posting a lot.

Here is one more one the flaming red series. (Not sure if I posted this before. Still reposting).

Very nice shot.

Not the best tools The cameras I was using had limitations e.g. AF of D610.

Might as well go for 7D Mk2 if you want to stick to a crop sensor. Otherwise the upgrade will be very incremental.

I used to take many more action shots and BIF with my old D90, so why even wait for the new camera before getting into 'action'?
