Hi Samurai, Is that the 14-54 at f2.8....or f3.5? What ISO?
How bad was the light? I'm looking for a f2.8 wide angle and was wondering whether it will help me get non-grainy pics in these kind of situations. This pic looks noisy to me.

Incidentally, my Canon body packed up with treacherous Error-99 displayed on top dial. Waiting for Canon Delhi Service center to give their expensive cost estimate.

Was at shivanasamudram last week and it was a real bright day. I decided to experiment coz just the previous night I was reading some stuff on HDR.

Should I call it a futile attempt at HDR ? Critics please.



Anyways I dint find this technique too appealing . I would rather stick to my normal shooting style Manual or Aperture.

I like it a lot. only grouse is that there is too much cyan in the sky. otherwise its perfect. did you use photomatix?
I need a new tripod before I restart doing HDR.

Yeah what else , I found the tone mapping to be a little silly (if I can say so) in Photomatix. Went onto use Photoshop CS and it was piece of cake after reading some blogs.

It is 14-54mm at F/5.6 and ISO400. Since he was standing in the covered porch with his back to the light, I had to use ISO400. In such cases it is hard to avoid grains in darker areas, even with the E3. Now if you are wondering why 5.6 and not 3.5, I wanted to capture some rain in the background instead of just bokeh. And I had to keep the shutter speed little higher since he kept moving spoiling the low speed shots.

yeah, tone mapping takes the fun out of HDR. did not know I could do HDR with PS3. will try.
other than the Cyan in the sky, its perfect. looks real. perfectly exposed in all regions. I can imagine how drab the pic would look if it was just an ordinary photo.

Some time back was shooting at ranganthitu.... Had several shots of this river tern. In the last frame, it just took off. But then what the heck...

Tone mapping is to make a HDR file print ready. What we see on screen as HDR image is not printable from a printer. Be it an inkjet printer or regular CMYK offset printing.

Yeah true what the heck , you still got the rear and I simply love that frame. Good one guru.

How about some capsicum for today.

Though technically you could call them Capsicum, a more appropriate name is chilly.
