| ![]() @Samurai :Sir, I am sorry couldnt get your statement "can a tele-zoom get this kind of Bokeh" The picture that u have posted is a wonderful example of a sharp damselfly in a blurred Background, but looking even closely i cant find any bokeh's reasons. a) the subject is not backlit b) my laptop doesnt have proper RGB setting c) The background is dark coloured and absorbing light @torqueguru : Wonderful pictures, particularly the bird & Bellagio. Equispaced circular bokeh's. But if you notice that Bokehs in prime lenses are more or less hexagonal. The point what I am trying to make is Sigma/Tamron are good brand undoubtedly but a pro or even an aspiring pro wouldnt depend on it. And particular Bird photography . Check out a friend of mine in Pbase. Mrs. Rathika Ramaswamy one of the best bird photographers in India and you will know why. Why I am saying this because with large zoom like the 150-500 you would find extreme sluggishness in focus lock and also hunting at low light. I had been working on tigers ( photgraphying) in Bandhavgarh and Kanha for around 4-5 years ( in my spare time) and I have found that prime lens performs much better. This is because I have used 170-500mm in couple of trips and I was highly disappointed with the sluggishness.I am sorry I am biased, though I dont have the money to buy a Nikkor 400mm AFS VR-II , I do my job with a 70-300mm AFS VR Nikkor. PS: Please check this picture and notice the bokeh its more or less circular. And in an earlier post of mine theres a frontside picture of an insect on a flower taken by the 18-70mm Nikkor , please check how a "sasta sundar tikau" lens perform Disclaimer: This prime lens and zoom lens argument has been going on for donkey's years and will go on. So lets end it here. And share some beautiful pics. |

| ![]() On the subject of Bokeh - Here is one with a Canon40D and a EF-70-300IS. The subject was backlit. I haven't been using the camera at all lately!! ![]() ![]() |
