Team-BHP Support ![]() ![]() | ![]() I've seen that Guru. It's because of compression. It happens on other forums too..including photography forum. Only way to eliminate this is to keep the file size small. This one must be around 50cm in height. |

BHPian ![]() | ![]() @Rudra Awesome is the word, what kind of post processing did u do? Just desaturated and adjusted curves? Been a while since i did some HDRs, so here comes one ![]() |

Team-BHP Support ![]() ![]() | ![]() Lovely shot Torqueguru! Where is this? I don't go for desaturation at all. Exposure and curve are the main. But this was shot deliberately underexposed with spot metering. |

What TSK is saying is that when an image is uploaded to Team-BHP there is no re-compression happening to the original image (which is viewed by clicking the thumbnail). Only the "thumbnail" (an image with the black bar at the bottom) gets re-compressed. The artifacts you see might be due to the compression that Rudra has applied to make the file 120~kb before uploading to TBHP. cya R

It would be due to addition of Team Bhp logo on lower left corner. Some code somewhere would be uncompressing it to add the logo and compress it again.

Team-BHP Support ![]() ![]() | ![]() Yup, applying watermark will lead to slight quality loss, but not noticeable, however resizing may introduce artifacts |

An example... http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/attach...d-img_4807.jpg And this from flickrs Flickr Photo Download: Near valley school, bangalore... Both at original uploaded resolution. Look at the edge of petal, on the bottom petels... there is some compression artifacts in the tbhp image. Probably you got it right. The code that adds that logo might be the culprit. | ![]() Ok i see your point Gkrishn. The uploaded file is actually unchanged (on our server) -- however, when it is served, a watermark is dynamically overlayed and that is the image you end up with in your browser. As you guys have mentioned, it is most likely this process that is degrading the quality of the "original" uploaded pic. cya R |
