@Rehaan
Considering the recent turn of events, they could even be hermaphrodites! haha!

@Benbs
The third eye totally puts a new angle to the pic, i purposely kept it in the frame! Glad you caught it!

Regards,
TG.

Thanks rijvora, Samu & Sushrutha

@Samurai: I was near the steps where we get on the boat at Ranganathittu when this fellow came about 15 feet close, hovered above the water looking for fish.
@sushrutha: Using a 100-400 lens.

Flower close-ups

A few weeks back when I walked into my office, a beautiful sight awaited me. The gardner had worked hard and Dahlias were in full bloom in myriad colours. I picked up my D80 and the very old trusted 35~70 AF Zoom Nikkor and sat on the ground very near the flower pots and attempted some close-up shots.

Here are the results:

The almost ripe Bud

Aah, the fresh air...!

As most know, I'm averse to PP and love to see the images on as is where is basis.. The only PP that I do is cropping to remove the riff-raff. Ok now the knives please...especially love to have from you Sharath & Tanveer..

You didn't say which camera and what are the specs of the lens...?

The exposure is good, but the composition is not so.

Don't cut-off parts of the flower, unless you can do it with style, say like this:

Try different angles... like these:

Keep trying, don't worry about getting it wrong.

A month back I went out to the garden to try some flower shots after a long time. I shot 100 images, not one survived the QC, I had zero results at the end.

A bit OT: is the Canon 100~400 the 'L' series?

Awesome catch, kingfishers are very difficult to capture. Good Work

My friend has a couple of Lovebirds. Very Cute and naughty. Here is one in which he was trying to catch them to put them back in their cage.

The BIF shots are quite good. Great timing on the kingfisher shots.

@TG
Thank you!

@redrage
Great pictures and great timing. To be frank, the borders that you have given spoils the beauty of the shots. Many Indian photographers put such borders for their pictures, as seen in flickr. The double border lines (black and white) just kills the interestingness of pictures like this. No offence meant, but just my opinion.
