Very different kind of shot. You can see his every muscle tensed bracing for the impact.
@Nomad&TG: Thank you, I use a 100-400 L and heres the exif, Shutter Speed 1/200, F 5.6, ISO 400, Exp Bias -.33, Focal length 400 mm.
@Samu: The picture i have posted is of a peahen the female. Hence the difference in color. What you have posted must be a peacock in rufous state and once its an adult it gets all those colors, for peahen its more of an green on the neck and brown on the head combination.

Thank you very much @torqy, i was about 1.5 meters below the level of the owl but the tree was angled towards me , thats why you get the impression that i was shoot at level with the bird.

Nice shot. But I would also like to see any other shot taken around the same time at a similar angle to check out the difference fill-in flash had made.
Well actually here i had placed the flash off my camera, on the right side of this image to just tone down the harsh shadows created by the sunlight hitting him from the left, used the remote wireless triggering of the SB900 unit. will see if i can in the future do a with flash and without flash comparison.

I don't know about that. But colleagues who live next to the office campus tell me that dozens of peacocks can be seen on the top of the office building early morning, sometimes dancing with fully spread out feathers.
