Without the fence the shot is so common n dead..The fence is providing a dynamism to the shot, its a design sense incorporated..if u notice, it runs as a diagonal to the frame giving it some more dimention IMHO.

I mnean everybody does that. I would like to see if you can create the same magic with colors.
Well, i strongly feel black and white is more challenging to get just right. Everybody takes color too! Its about how u take them that sets your style apart. As far as i see it, color has its applications and so does black and white. Photographs with character can be made in either of them. But i really dont think that black and white photography is trivial. And i switched to trying out black and white quite recently, after i got inspired seeing the postings of one certain Rudra Sen :D And i tried it out, thats when i realised how complex a thing it is to process RAW files into compelling black and whites. Even in our forum, black and white is much rarer than color!
For eg this image is one of the most complex ones to get it right in black and white after processing and make the image pop, with all the details still in tact without any halo issues lingering around.
And this one, in color is a piece of cake once the lighting is apt!
Just my honest opinion.

Totally agree with this. B/w processing is not just de-saturating the image.

Thanks Tg.. comments taken, I filled light on this image and adjusted the super black areas to have some details... luckily I had the original psd file. Can't do anything with the cropping as the original raw file is now lost.. :(
BTW, how do you store all the nice photographs? I create a 16-bit tiff from RAW and edit in PS, so I save these as .psd files with the 16bit tiff inside and this eats up a lot of space! This image is 80Mb! I can save some space if I convert it to 8bit after editing before saving though.

I kinda liked this pic better. But i think i ruined it when i wanted it to look little darker and hazy(comments please).
The second one was taken at Kanyakumari, this was taken using a very basic digi cam. idea of the composition was to have that lady in the foreground little blured but i guess point and shoot cameras focus on the wrong stuff always.:D
Gurus, please suggest what went wrong here ? Is it the lens or the camera angle ? D60 with 18-55 kit lens.

I feel you could have played with the lines a bit, composition is what i can see problem in, the pic looks way to simpler. Other technical aspects. like focus, lighting etc :D gurus please step in.

Dont you find the right side building slanting to the left ? Something like the pizza tower !!
This pic was taken in Goa in 2005 by me (Nikon 5700)
Shaju if you stay in the apartment block on the right, you should be moving soon :D
