Missing the focus buddy? As in, I feel both the photographs are out of focus :(.[/quote]

@ Shaju, the Blue & green roses are real ones & I found them in Bangys City Market area.

@hellwrath
agree: both are under focused snaps. I am a new to DSLR photography & learning to use my Gear. I try to focus the subject & get a sharp Image but most of them fail.
@ all Photogurusplease: give me few tips on Focusing the subject. Thanks in advance.

Not possibly. Blue rose doesn't exist but have been produced recently by genetic engineering in Japan if I remember correctly and even they are not true blue.:)

Sree, curious to know what mode you shoot and the DSLR you use ? Focusing is mostly taken care of by the camera itself unless you are doing macro in manual mode or a special situation where manual focus is required to get what one wants.

I shoot 90% in Aperture Priority, varying the ISO from 100 to 800 depending on the time of the day or Indoor Vs Outdoor. Lately my concentration is fully on Macro, thats a 100% manual focus. Our Gurus here will be able to guide you with bit more info from your camera settings.:thumbs up

Wow TG, thank you for that. Never thought of it that way, as in restraining happiness etc. One more dimension to the composition, space for emotions. That's why we should have professionals leading us to the light (literally!) :D.

That's one heck of a shot. High FPS with lovely glass, ah, photorgasm.

I am glad you could identify with what I tried to tell you there. And you are welcome. Your "Photorgasm" cracked up everyone here in the room as I am typing this reply. Hahaha!

Saju,

I feel the kid is kind of stuck in the frame you created around her, looks claustrophobic

The days catch.

LOL! I was thinking of a word to describe the gear and that popped in my head. Must have read it somewhere :D.

Lovely light and sharp photos, all of them.

Umm, first things first. Start with Aperture priority mode with autofocus on for now. Start making photographs with these settings and then eventually move to other settings. The problem with all manual stuff is that we get overwhelmed at times, unless we have a good control over the camera. And, do join us for a walk :). It might help you and it'll be great fun!

+1 to HW, use the auto mode as of now, start working on the composition and then use the manual to find out how to get what you need, this is how i worked and it worked for me.

Manual mode is something not a favorite of everyone, even many professionals. My trainer (Jayanth Sharma) taught us the potential of each (P,S,A,M) modes, but uses Aperture Priority for majority of his best shots Wildlife Times Gallery - Home.

As far as I understand, Manual is the best if you are shooting in a studio set up with accurate control over your lighting and subject. Anything outdoors, unpredictable, varying light situations, unexpected opportunities: Go for Aperture or Shutter modes. Familiarizing with Manual mode takes time and experience.

You are ready to shoot in full Manual when you can understand the lighting and decide what ISO, Aperture, Shutter speed, Metering and Exposure required for a particular shot. Then we have Composition and DOF to master. I am a learner like you, I hope and wish I can master just the basics in 1 year.

End of the day, its the quality of picture that matters, none cares if you shot in Manual, Aperture or Shutter mode ! Gurus, please correct me if I am giving wrong ideas.:)

GD bhai you are spot on. I was on full 300mm zoom, was overcast and dark hence on high ISO. Also i have seen on Sigma 70-300 the shots upto 200mm is sharp more than that is becomes softer and softer.

Was trying the light write the other day.
ISO : 100
Apt : F11
Shutter speed : 15"

v&v, I think the focus is on the tail part, than the eye. I feel it would have looked better in a portrait mode. Give more space towards the front than back if you want it in landscape mode itself. :)
