Getting back here after a while. Went out shooting today and had time to upload some decent (I think so) pictures. This is what I feel is the best shot. Taken with my trusty el-cheapo 70-300mm G.

Very true, but wife and kids are same even now :D
Each time you post from GF-1, I wonder about its clarity and quality. Too good. |
Thanks man :). It's actually the lens (Olympus 45mm). It's such a pleasure to use this one. It even won the lens of the year at the online photographer site.

Wow, Type O. Really good mate :). I love the background and the fact that the complete body of the butterfly is in focus.
I was home yesterday and didn't have much to do. I have an old flash lying around, so thought of having some fun with it. Put it in a lampshade and used the lampshade like a softbox. Shot with a Panasonic G1 and Lester Dine 105mm f2.8 lens. Here are the results:
@Veeresh, thanks dude. With regards to your recent pictures, don't you think that photography nuts will think of clicking almost anything if they are not out? Yesterday, I started clicking cut radishes. My wife already thinks I like the camera more than her.
Also, did you you use tissue paper? I find a glass top with a white paper / cloth below works better. Of course, you have to deal with the reflections ....
A few pics from recent trip to Redding, CA.
These are clicked from Shasta dam. First is wide angle showing how big the lake Shashta is. You can see the only peak - Mount Shasta with plenty of snow. Everything else was dry. Second is Mount Shasta up close.
P.S: All shots are hand held. Some at 15x zoom. Also, all are stock from camera. Just re-sized to post here.

Does the camera recognize the flash, how did you trigger it?

This is an HDR from three exposures -1,0 and +1. I have already retouched the sky in photoshop for bring out the hidden character. Is there anything else that I can do or should do?

Oh if you are already doing that, probably going a bit deeper into such processing will make it look more stunning.. this is my version, with your permission:

Wish I had the raw file :D
Gurus, uploading some random shots. I'm a newbie. So, please comment. The camera used is a Canon Powershot SX30 IS.

Its indeed very good looking now but I try to keep my HDR's subtle as close to real scene possbile. Can you please explain the steps followed? Correct me if I am wrong but I see that you have increased saturation and increased the contrast.
Shot at Pondi, D90 in Auto mode. Yes, I have used it in Auto until I learn't the basicsstupid:

I have not touched on the contrast directly, but it may have increased during the processing. I selectively enhanced the water first, then brough down the levels of the sky, applied a high pass filter to enhance the contrast of clouds, increased sky's vibrance, applied a violet photo filter on the water to match the sky's tone and increased the overall sugary feel of the picture by adding a duplicate layer and playing with its Adjustments->Shadows/Highlights.

Thanks Shaju. I took these at f/22 with varying shutter speeds of 3secs, 5secs and 10 secs at ISO100. My struggle was to get the timing right. Even 3 sec is good if you click at the right time.
The lens was the 18-105mm VR. On hindsight I should have used the 35mm f1.8 as most of these were taken at a focal length of 38mm.
