These are as is pictures taken on Nikon D5100.

Good ones, you seem to have used a wrong White Balance setting.

Oh ok.. Auto mode should imply Auto WB. It looks like you took them in the evening but the images are so bluish & hazy!

These were taken in morning between 6:15 - 6:25 am

Aperture Priority
300mm
f/5.6
ISO 400
Shot with 70-300VRII

The focus is a bit off. Realized after I opened the .NEF filesstupid: (It was in dynamic area mode instead of single point). I had focused on the right eye, there is a bit shift towards the left, i.e towards the right side of the head.

Goofed around a bit in LightRoom.

Comments and suggestions to improve, please!

I use a D5100 too with Auto WB most of the times in either Aperture Priority or Shutter Priority modes. Strangely enough, the auto WB has been very reliable with very minor variation from the actual scene sometimes. Never spotted such extreme variation.

Few photos from our trip in 2010

My 3 month old - shot using D 40 / 70-300 and desaturated using PS.

A wedding I attended yesterday, it was fun throughout :)

Well reading both of your posts I am a bit confused. What exactly is wrong in the pictures? As far as I remember what I actually saw is almost true in the pictures.

Posted it last night on FB from our myrtle beach vacation, titled "Vikrant, the superman"

More than the light at bottom, what is distracting me is the slight tilt of the picture in CW direction.

If the actual scene was that bluish, then no complaints :)

Thank you mohammedismail! It is the aperture blades of my 50mm.

Intrigued with some freeze action photography I saw in 500px. I wanted to see if my external flash at 1/16th of its power can provide the necessary freezing, on the typical water droplet test and here is the result...
The Official non-auto Image thread-dsc05682.jpg

Camera: A35, Exif - 0.4sec, f/20, IS0100, 35mm, Quantaray flash fired at 1/16 of its full power. When you reduce flash power, the actual time duration of the flash reduces, not the light. So you will be able to achieve shutter speeds close to 1/10000s in 1/16 power. I can't reduce it further since 1/16 is a built in setting and TTL doesn't work with this flash.
