Prajesh, an abstract image should convey a meaning other than what is plainly seen.

For example: Notice the titles of the photos.

Used!

In both cases a common object is used to convey a different meaning. Sometimes it is not very apparent, sometimes it is. It is not rare for people to completely miss the meaning. Such is the risk with abstract photos/paintings.

In my view you can get an artistic value out of a common object, although you may not be able to relate it to a story or a concept. That would be abstract too.

As long as he doesn't call it a "drink in a glass" shot, it can as well be an abstract.

Does it qualify to be in the abstract ?

Pain all the way !! (first I thought the title should be "Pain on the wrong side") Its f/29 and ISO800, so high noise !

I know lot of people think anything meaningless is abstract. But that is not it. It still has to mean something, preferably profound.

Otherwise you are just splashing paint on the wall and calling it abstract.

We have TG here studying art in grad school. I am sure he can provide the correct definition of abstract photography.

Are you sure about aperture?
Such narrow aperture would have more objects in focus rather than just few elements of barbed wire. Or am I missing something?

Even I used to think any meaningless thing is either modern art or abstract.

Its taken in aperture priority f/29, 1/25 sec. I think I shot around 6 times from different angles, but couldnt get a single shot with the whole wire in focus, but only a small portion even at smaller aperture. You find enough lighting because of the higher ISO, it was early morning with a cloudy sky. So ISO 200-400 range was giving a higher exposure time, means totally blurred image. I still do not know what was technically lacking. Btw, it was 70-300 lens at 300mm.

Your pic is looking awesome, I believe the whole chain is in the same distance to the lens, is it not ? Mine is going far from the left corner.

Infact I am still learning the basics. Here is what the focus is:

Reminds me of a painting exhibition I went few years back. There was a section called 'abstract', none of my 5 member group could understand a single painting from the whole place. It was typically splashing of paint, which could be understood only if the painter himself explained it.

Yes its f/29, aimed at getting the whole wire in focus, but something else is missing, I am not able to figure out.

There comes a time when you must stand alone....

and i feel that the time has come now.!!

Captured this one during our farewell day. Everyone seemed very busy shedding down tears. For strange reasons, i didn't feel like crying. So, I captured this shot to depict my state of mind.
