I for one will be glad if it fade away into the history, just like Orkut or Myspace.
I'd then say, "So is Windows!"
Sorry for OT

Was not the same thing. It would be same if Microsoft was responsible for building MacOS, but jinxed the development of MacOS while secretly developing Windows.

Windows was inspired by Mac, just like Mac was inspired by Xerox Star. Besides, Mac was an instant success, while Windows had to wait another 6 years, until 3.0 to become a success.

I don't believe in the concept of software patents, it is a farce. Just because somebody had the idea first, shouldn't mean they own it. The one who executes the idea best deserves the success, let the market decide.

If MZ had completed the HarvardConnection project, and then went on to develop Facebook on his own, he would have still succeeded.

Re: Google+, A new competitor to Facebook

IIRC Mac's GUI alone was inspired from Xerox. But what Gates did (for Windown) is outright theft.

But Sir, you have to believe by hook or crook. This is the way industry works all over the world. Sometimes, I amaze to see kind of fourth grade patents that apple and google granted. e.g. All touch screen device is proprietary of Apple.

Google is successful in few of their numerous products launch. Not sure what is the future of Google+. Only time will tell. Their many recent ventures are failures.

I am not saying Bill Gates was a honest man, but neither was Steve Jobs. They both didn't pay much attention to ethics in the 80s. Both stole GUI ideas from someone else. But they both didn't sabotage the original product.

I have worked in companies where the top management had very little ethics. It has a very bad influence on the employees. I believe corporate ethics is very important. Inspiration is acceptable, you see an openly visible idea and improve upon it. When you sobotage your employer, hack into competitor systems, etc., (both done by MZ), it becomes a criminal activity.

Hopefully FaceBook won't try suing Google+, that would be a biger farce.

Haha, but the problem is that in all this mess, a particular message meant for me gets missed.

It exactly like being in a crowded party / pub.
I guess that's what makes these social networking sites tick.
Its the human urge to gossip, and poke into everyone's affairs, and derive pleasure from it.

Unfortunately, as I mentioned above - any genuine message intended for me gets lost in the noise.

Re: Google+, A new competitor to Facebook

Sorry but frankly I am not seeing any discussing on Google+ for last ten or so PMs. People are just going way off topic and discussing things other than what the title reads.

Have anyone in the forum had a hands on the Google+ does anyone have a list of goodies available in this one. I guess those are stuff that we got to be discussing.

Re: Google+, A new competitor to Facebook

There is very little to talk about the google+ until it grows big enough to be a contender. Sometimes it is scary, all our videos are in youtube, emails in gmails, search data in google. Now even social gossip will be part of Google. Soon Google will know more about us than us.

Re: Google+, A new competitor to Facebook

Looks like you have the right connection. Until it is opened up to public, I guess there is very little we can discuss.

Google+ need to have something that takes the wind out of FB's sail. Only then they will attain the critical base to start challenging Facebook's popularity. No point in me being in G+ if all my friends and family are in FB.

will happen sooner than later; email invites will be back shortly; seems they went over-capacity in the first few hours; targeting 500mil users; I'm in their prime users group (however not having any vested/financial interests at all), hence amongst the first users...
