Re: Google+, A new competitor to Facebook

@Samurai,

Makes me feel more like facebook isnt actually bad .

Lets see how G+ is. Just for the heck of it people will try and if it is exciting people will start enjoying the new thing till it become mundane and boring.

Time for a change out of Facebook for many i guess

Google+ is in limited Field Trial
Right now, we're testing with a small number of people, but it won't be long before the Google+ project is ready for everyone. Leave us your email address and we'll make sure you're the first to know when we're ready to invite more people.

It says so, but works when you try again. Google is actually throttling the signups as well. So if you didnt get through even after having an invite, try again in a couple of hours, It WORKS !

BTW, if any one wants to be in g+, i can send you the invite, you ll just have to click on the "Learn more about Google+" button and sign up ! let me know

Sorry for OT
The funny thing is everyone keeps saying that Apple Macintosh created the GUI and Microsoft copied it... but that's just marketing...

The first GUI was made by Xerox... Apple copied them... so Microsoft is not all that evil to copy a copied system init??

PS: I'm on Google+
and i like it...
the circles funda is cool...
when i post some football news i just share it with my friends i know who are into football... so i don't get lame responses from other people... and my home page is not flooded with random BS.

If people use it properly it'll be really cool...

It's going wide OT, but too hard to refrain!
Apple just didn't steal them; it's was an inspiration and they bought the rights for the GUI (so called copied stuff) from Xerox.

What Gates did? Hope you know

no dude.. as far as i know Xerox hadn't patented it... so Apple didn't need to buy any rights....

after Xerox developed it, they though it would not work in the market so they junked it....
Apple thought differently developed it further and implemented it.

EDIT:
Actually [Just checked Wikipedia] Xerox allowed Apple into their labs to check out their PARC GUI, which Apple then used to create their own improved system.

Apple also Licensed Microsoft to use most of the elements in their GUI in Windows 1.0.
When Windows 2.0 & subsequently 3.0 came out, Apple sued Microsoft for copyrights infringement, but the courts threw it out saying that of Most of the elements mentioned Apple had given Microsoft permission to use and the remaining elements could not be copywritten...

Xerox then used Apples example and filed a lawsuit against Apple which was also thrown outta court.

Here is the link.

Is that why Xerox sued Apple, because they bought the rights? Read: copyright - case 2: article 6

Can we move back to Google+ now? Looks like now many of us have made it in, we can leave the Apple vs MS issue behind.

Re: Google+, A new competitor to Facebook

I am onboard G+ since yesterday; it is a refreshing change from the monotony of Facebook.

Guess it will be G+ until the next one comes along!

G+ looks good with all the shapelessnes; just hope they manage privacy issues right from the start.

PS : The office admin doesn't know about G+ yet so can access it; but here's the bummer. The ancient IE7 is not supported so can't get thru' to the Home page.

I hope we have a winner in G+; I've had enough of FB!

Re: Google+, A new competitor to Facebook

On Xerox, Apple and Progress

Based on what I read, Apple did not steal anything from Xerox and Xerox was paid for letting Apple tour their PARC and see Star.

Maybe a new "Apple Vs MS/Xerox/HP/Adobe/Google" thread?

Thanks for the text, Samurai.

EDIT: Just saw Samurai's message! Sorry

Re: Google+, A new competitor to Facebook

I have been using G+ since yesterday, it is a refreshing change.. but there are very less functionalities as of now. Google has integrated Picasaweb and Maps in this for added features. As mentioned before, the circle concept is cool. You can create 'n' number of circles with your chosen names for different groups...

Of the many languages spoken around the world, the most common is hope... so here's to hope that G+ will be successful :-)

Re: Google+, A new competitor to Facebook

When I logged on G+ yesterday, while signing in it compulsarily linked my Picasa account to the G+ one. Now, that isn't good when it comes to private albums, is it?

Any work around or do we stop sharing personal pics on Picasa altogether?
